Job summary

Zhongshi Chemical Engineering Construction (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Fire Protection Project Engineer to lead technical planning, site coordination, and execution of fire protection systems in Malaysian construction projects.

You will review M&E drawings, perform local hydraulic calculations, supervise installations, and ensure compliance with UBBL, MS, and BOMBA regulations to secure CCC and clearances.

Responsibilities

• Technical design & blueprint review to verify active/passive fire protection per UBBL.
• Hydraulic calculations for sprinklers, hydrants, risers per MS 1489; verify pump selections per MS 2616.
• Prepare BOMBA blueprints for submissions to obtain CCC.
• On-site supervision of alarms, detectors, gas suppression and hose reels; ensure conformance.
• Coordinate site inspections with BOMBA officers to secure CCC clearance.
• Maintain engineering files and testing records (Forms C1-C3) and related documentation.

Position Summary

The Fire Protection Project Engineer handles the technical planning, site coordination, and execution of fire protection and life safety system installations within the Malaysian construction and engineering sector. This role involves reviewing mechanical and electrical (M&E) designs, performing localized hydraulic calculations, supervising on-site installations, and ensuring strict compliance with the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL), Malaysian Standards (MS), and Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (BOMBA) regulations. The engineer serves as a key technical link between subcontractors, consultants, and clients to secure project completion and statutory clearance.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Blueprint Review: Analyze mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings to verify the feasibility of both active and passive fire protection systems according to UBBL guidelines.

Engineering Calculations & Standards: Perform and check hydraulic calculations for automatic sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, and wet/dry riser mains following MS 1489 standards. Ensure fire pump selections comply with MS 2616 regulations.

BOMBA Submission Support: Coordinate the preparation of passive and active fire-fighting blueprints for official BOMBA submissions to secure building clearance letters.

Site Supervision & Quality Control: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of fire alarms, smoke detectors, gas suppression, and hose reel systems to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings.

Authority Liaison: Participate in site walk-throughs and clear inspections with BOMBA officers to facilitate the procurement of the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).

Project Documentation: Maintain precise engineering files, including material descriptions, testing records (Forms C1, C2, and C3 for fire pumps), site progress logs, and eFEIS registration documents.
