Job summary

Longmotive in Malaysia seeks an Engineer specializing in Fire Protection to oversee design review, installation supervision, testing and commissioning of fire protection systems on MEP construction projects.

You will ensure compliance with safety standards, technical specs and authority requirements, coordinating with vendors and on-site teams to deliver quality, timely handover documentation and closeout packages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 3–5 years experience as a Fire Engineer/Fire Protection Engineer in MEP construction.
• Strong knowledge of Fire Fighting and Fire Alarm Systems; sprinkler, hydrant, fire pump and FAS systems.

Responsibilities

• Design Review & Validation of fire protection designs and calculations.
• Procurement & Material Management support for fire protection systems.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, method statements, ITPs and technical submissions.
• Progress reporting and documentation for inspections, testing, and commissioning.
• Prepare handover documentation, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals.

As an Engineer, You will be responsible for the design review, installation supervision, testing, and commissioning, of Fire Protection System to ensure compliance with safety standard, technical specification, and applicable regulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Design Review & Validation

• Review fire protection designs, calculations, and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.

2. Procurement & Material Management

• Support material submittals, vendor coordination, delivery tracking, and material control for fire protection systems.
• Supervise and coordinate on-site installation activities to ensure works follow approved drawings, method statements, and project schedules.

4. Shop Drawings & Technical Submittals

• Prepare and review shop drawings, Method Statements, ITPs, and related technical submissions for consultant and client approval.

5. Progress Reporting

• Monitor daily and weekly progress, and report key activities, constraints, and required follow-up actions.
• Support inspections, testing, and commissioning activities. Ensure all test reports and documentation are complete and properly recorded.

7. Project Closeout

• Prepare handover documentation, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and support system handover and acceptance.

8. Compliance & Quality Assurance

• Ensure all fire protection works meet quality standards and comply with applicable codes, project specifications, and authority requirements.

QALIFICATIONS /JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• 1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 2. Minimum 3-5 Years of experience as a Fire Engineer/Fire Protection Engineer in MEP Construction Project. Experience in High rise buildings, Data Center, Hospitals, or Commercial Project is an advantage.
• 3. Technical Skills (Mandatory):
• Strong knowledge of Fire Fighting and Fire Alarm Systems.
• Solid understanding of the design and installation of sprinkler, hydrant, fire pump, and FAS systems.
• Ability to read and interpret fire system drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications.
