Job summary

EXEO Global Pte Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer to support planning, tracking, and coordination of structure cabling activities based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. You will work with project managers, supervisors, vendors, and customer teams to meet requirements, safety standards, and timelines.

Responsibilities include tracking schedules, ensuring quality, conducting briefings, preparing test reports, and maintaining records. The role requires on-site work and willingness to shift as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in IT, Electrical, Electronics, Telecom, or related field.
• 2–4 years in structured cabling, data center cabling, or network infra.
• Familiar with optical modules (SFP/QSFP/OSFP) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of compute components and hardware preferred.
• Ability to read cabling drawings, patching diagrams, and port maps.

Responsibilities

• Assist PM in tracking schedules, plans, resources, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure outputs meet client standards, specs, quality, and best practices.
• Arrange meetings, take minutes, and follow up with customers and teams.
• Escalate issues, shortages, safety concerns, risks, or blockers promptly.
• Conduct technical briefings/workshops for supervisors and teams.
• Translate requirements into execution plans for on-site teams.
• Prepare/test/correct cable test reports for project compliance.
• Identify faults, high-loss readings, polarity issues, and non-conformances.
• Maintain cabling records, port mappings, test results, and as-built docs.
• Support validation: link verification, connectivity tests, issue closure.

Job description

The role

The Project Engineer will be responsible in supporting the planning, tracking and coordination of structure cabling activities that will based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The engineer will work closely with project managers, supervisors, vendors, and customer teams to complete cabling activities according to project requirements, safety standards, and agreed timelines.

Key accountabilities

• Assist the Project Manager in tracking project schedules, work plans, resource allocation, project milestones, manpower deployment and deliverables.
• Ensure all work outputs comply with client standards, project specifications, quality requirements, and industry best practices.
• Arrange project meetings, prepare meeting minutes where required, and follow up on action items with customers and internal teams.
• Escalate technical issues, material shortages, safety concerns, project risks, or blockers to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Conduct technical briefings and workshops for supervisors and installation teams to ensure proper understanding of project requirements and execution standards.
• Participate in technical discussions with customers and translate requirements or changes into execution plans and work fronts for the onsite team.
• Prepare, compile, review, and manage cable test reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and rectify faults, failed links, high-loss readings, polarity issues, incorrect patching, and other non-conformances identified during testing and validation activities.
• Maintain and update cabling records, port mappings, test results, labelling records, and as-built documentation.
• Support validation activities, including link verification, connectivity testing, port mapping verification, issue resolution, and closure.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, Certificate, or relevant technical qualification in IT, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in structured cabling, data center cabling, network infrastructure, or a related field.
• Familiarity with handling transceivers such as SFP, QSFP, OSFP, and other related optical modules will be an added advantage.
• Basic knowledge of compute components such as servers, storage, network, and related hardware will be an added advantage.
• Good understanding of fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure.
• Familiar with LC, MPO/MTP, Cat6/Cat6A, patch panels, fiber panels, cassettes, trunk cables, and patch cords.
• Able to read and follow cabling drawings, patching diagrams, port maps, cable schedules, and related project documentation.
• Hands‑on experience with cable testing tools such as Fluke, EXFO, Viavi, VFL, power meter, or OLTS will be preferred.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a project team.
• Willing to work on-site, including shift work, night work, weekends, or public holidays when required.
• Good communication, teamwork, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
