Job summary

Gateway Search Pte Ltd in Kuala Lumpur invites a hands-on Project Engineer to support the implementation, commissioning, and delivery of robotics automation projects across Southeast Asia. You will work on AMRs and automation systems, coordinating with project managers and on-site teams to ensure smooth deployment.

You will travel frequently across Southeast Asia, engage with customers, provide technical support, and transfer knowledge to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (Mechanical/Mechatronics/Robotics/Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering).
• Strong interest in robotics, automation, and material handling solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on engineering approach.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in English.
• Willingness to travel frequently across Southeast Asia for project work.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently in a remote-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end project delivery including site layout, engineering design, installation, and commissioning of AMRs and automation systems.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to monitor schedules, costs, quality, and deliverables.
• Coordinate and supervise on-site contractors, vendors, and technical teams.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for customers and maintain strong relationships.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support and troubleshoot system issues.
• Deliver training to customers and ensure effective system adoption.
• Prepare project documentation and ensure compliance with standards and safety regulations.
• Identify risks and contribute to process improvements for better project performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Execution & Implementation: Support end‑to‑end project delivery in accordance with project plans, including site layout, engineering design, site preparation, system installation, commissioning, and deployment of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and automation systems.
• Project Coordination: Work closely with Project Managers to monitor project schedules, costs, quality, and deliverables, ensuring successful and timely execution.
• Site & Vendor Management: Coordinate and supervise on‑site contractors, vendors, and technical teams to ensure smooth installation and commissioning activities.
• Customer Engagement: Act as a key technical point of contact for customers, maintaining strong relationships, addressing project‑related concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide on‑site and remote technical support, troubleshoot system issues, and assist with post‑deployment operations and production support.
• Training & Knowledge Transfer: Deliver operational and technical training to customers, ensuring effective system adoption and utilization.
• Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, review project deliverables, and ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, safety regulations, and technical specifications.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify potential project risks, recommend corrective actions, and contribute to process improvements to enhance overall project performance.

Requirements

• Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong interest in robotics, industrial automation, and intelligent material handling solutions.
