Jora Malaysia is seeking a Project Engineer to provide technical leadership for MEP and process systems in pharmaceutical and high-precision environments in Ipoh. You will oversee design, installation, commissioning and integration of electrical, ELV, HVAC and process systems ensuring quality and safety.

The Project Engineer will provide technical leadership for MEP and process systems within pharmaceutical and high-precision environments. The role oversees design, installation, commissioning, and integration of electrical, ELV, HVAC, and process systems, ensuring technical excellence, project efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Provide expert technical leadership and design input for all MEP and process systems and utilities.
Work across multiple trades; experience in any of the following is advantageous:
Process Systems: Bulk and specialty gas systems (N₂, O₂, Ar, H₂, corrosive/flammable gases), process cooling water, clean compressed air, deionized water, chemical distribution systems.
HVAC Systems: Dry side (AHUs, FFUs, ductwork, dampers) and water side (chilled/hot/condenser water, pumps, heat exchangers), especially for cleanroom environments with precise temperature and humidity control.
Electrical & ELV Systems: Power distribution, backup generators, UPS, lighting, and ELV systems (CCTV, security access, fire alarm, PA systems).
Control Systems: Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), PLC/SCADA process control systems.
Review and analyze P&IDs, conceptual specifications, and layout drawings (CAD/BIM) to ensure design intent and operational logic are accurately captured.
Ensure all designs are practical, constructible, cost-efficient, and performance optimized.
Oversee full system lifecycle from shop drawings to final commissioning.
Resolve complex multidisciplinary interface issues between mechanical, electrical, process, and control systems.
Lead the preparation of construction, material, process, and testing & commissioning specifications.
Act as the main technical bridge between vendors, consultants, QA/QC, validation, and operations teams.
Communicate complex technical requirements clearly to stakeholders, tendering teams, and end-users.
Develop and implement systems, workflows, and tools to enhance project efficiency (e.g., standardized design libraries, commissioning checklists, digital tracking of technical deliverables).
Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project goals and technical requirements.
Own technical aspects of project activities.
Prepare and present accurate progress reports, highlight risks, and provide timely resolutions.
Supervise subcontractor technical progress, review submissions, and ensure compliance with approved specifications.
Manage material and work deliveries to meet project milestones, schedule, and quality standards.
Lead the development of technical scopes of work and detailed subcontractor packages.
Manage the end-to-end tender process, including technical clarifications and negotiation follow-ups.
Ensure all technical work adheres to relevant safety, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in MEP, process, and electrical project engineering, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotech, or high-tech industries.
Strong experience with P&ID interpretation, CAD/BIM design, and system integration.
Knowledge of cleanroom HVAC, process utilities, electrical, ELV, and control systems.
Excellent coordination, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Ability to lead technical teams and supervise subcontractors.
Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
