Job summary

Meinhardt EPCM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of mechanical systems for industrial and mission-critical projects in Malaysia. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, review calculations, and ensure on-schedule, safe project execution.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior engineers, coordinating with clients and vendors, and applying international standards (ASME, API, ISO) to complex facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering across consultancy/EPC/industrial sectors.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and international standards (ASME, API, ISO).
• Experience with mission-critical facilities or data centre projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of mechanical systems for industrial and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, specs, drawings, and design docs.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure designs comply with industry codes, standards, and client requirements.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about engineering excellence and enjoys leading the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems.

In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and project stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of mechanical systems for industrial and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and design documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Support project execution, installation, testing, commissioning, and technical troubleshooting.
• Conduct engineering studies, technical evaluations, and propose practical, cost-effective design solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Review vendor submissions, technical proposals, and equipment specifications.
• Support budgeting, cost estimation, and design optimization initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and engineering best practices.

Job Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, preferably within Engineering Consultancy, EPC, EPCM, Industrial, Oil & Gas, Data Centre, Infrastructure, or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles and applicable international engineering standards (ASME, API, ISO, etc.).
• Experience in mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, rotating equipment, utilities, or industrial facilities.
• Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or equivalent.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Candidates with experience in mission-critical facilities or Data Centre projects will have an added advantage.
