Scope of Position
Responsible, as a design professional, for the production of innovative, appropriate, cost effective, designs, drawings and specifications in his/her discipline for assigned projects. Maintains professional registration and signs/seals documents prepared under his/her supervision.
Job Responsibilities
- 1. Conceptual Design
- i. Utilizes innovation in design and methods.
- ii. Develops design concepts, recommends systems and produces pricing and proposal documents and outline specifications.
- iii. Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria.
- iv. Establish Discipline basis of design.
- 2. Detailed Design
- i. Analysis Ability
- 1. Researches, documents and is responsible for discipline design compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations.
- 2. Designing for Safety incorporated into drawings.
- ii. Detailing
- 1. Comply with the QIP.
- 2. Uses Haskell standards and procedures.
- 3. Coordinates work with other disciplines, including outside consultants as applicable. Performs interdisciplinary coordination check to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications.
- iii. Leads the production of well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness.
- 3. Construction Documents
- i. Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Professional of Record.
- 4. Construction Support
- i. Reviews applicable shop drawings and submittal data for compliance with construction documents.
- ii. Advises and assists Construction Project Managers, Superintendents and Subcontractors in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents.
- iii. Participates in construction observation to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings and specifications. Prepares inspection reports and punch lists

- iv. Provides solutions to field problems, responds to RFI's and prepares field orders and addenda.
- v. Leads production and archiving of record drawings and specifications.
- 5. Planning/Scheduling
- i. Projects, monitors and informs design manager of workload status of project discipline staff.
- ii. Participates in project strategy meetings.
- iii. Participates in creation of overall key date schedule, including permitting schedule.
- iv. Creates discipline work plan for assigned projects.
- 6. Profitability
- i. Prepares man-hour estimate for discipline work.
- ii. Assists Design Manager in monitoring costs of discipline-related outside consultants.
- iii. Participates in team review to assure discipline scope is covered in project budgets, estimates and subcontractor bids.
- 7. Project Management
- i. Directs technical efforts of discipline staff assigned to the project.
- ii. Monitors discipline adherence to strategy, key date schedule and work plan.
- iii. Assists in coordinating information with and monitoring discipline-related outside consultants.
- iv. Monitors workload status; advises design manager.
- v. Prepares Meeting minutes and other communications in coordination with design manager.
- vi. Mentoring of assigned staff.
Education & Years of Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture (or equivalent recognized architectural qualification). With at least 5 years of of industry related experience.
Qualifications:
- 1. Revit Architecture – Intermediate/Advanced proficiency, with strong BIM coordination and documentation skills
- 2. Industrial / Manufacturing Architecture experience, preferable Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries
- 3. Proven experience in project coordination, construction documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and technical design
