Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Malaysia seeks a Production & Operations Supervisor to lead daily manufacturing schedules, optimize HPU and cycle times, and manage inventory to meet the plan. The role emphasizes lean initiatives, safety, and continuous improvement while developing personnel and ensuring ISO compliance.

The position is 100% onsite in Penang, with responsibilities spanning resource planning, quality control, and team leadership to sustain production performance and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years in high-volume, high-mix manufacturing with supervisory experience.
• Experience with ERP/MRP tools such as Oracle/SAP.
• Lean manufacturing and quality improvement project exposure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production schedule adherence and improve HPU and cycle time.
• Manage resources to meet production plan and supervise workforce.
• Oversee inventory, material usage and wastage control.

Job description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for production schedule adherence, HPU improvement, cycle time improvement, inventory management, and employee development.

• Determining resources (capacity) needed to meet production plan.

• Comparing with available resources.

• Managing dispatching of work orders according to the build plan.

• Drive for workmanship and quality improvements.

• Managing and controlling direct material usage.

• Keeping inventories at desired level.

• Managing employee attrition and retention.

• Managing and coordinating key employee activities to enhance teamwork and working environment.

• Do 'the needful' to meet or exceed our customers' expectations in compliance with the Quality Policy.

• Performing any other duties as directed by the immediate superior from time to time.

• Ensuring compliance to Safety, ESD, Cleanroom and Housekeeping guidelines.

• Meet the performance metrics (HPU, DPPM, Cycle time, Job Closure, Cross Training, Scrap / Reject) and attendance.

• Take part or to be trained on company's initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing.

• Derive Continual Improvement.

• Practice Risk Base Thinking in planning and execution of task.

• Compliance to ISO Requirements, company rules & regulations, applicable codes etc.

Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Admin / Economics / IE / Production Management and related disciplines.

• Minimum 5 years working experience in a high-volume high mix production environment managing production with at least 3 years in supervisory position. Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc.

• Experience working with Oracle/ ERP/ SAP/ MRP tools.

• Experience working on lean manufacturing and quality improvement projects.

• Computer software knowledge etc., especially in Microsoft Office.
