Job summary

Agilent Technologies in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Production Planner / Scheduler to develop and maintain production schedules that meet on-time delivery while optimizing capacity, inventory, labor, and material availability.

You will work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Procurement to balance demand and supply, monitor progress, adjust plans for bottlenecks, and support continuous improvement in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering or management field.
• 3–5 years in production planning, scheduling, supply chain, or manufacturing.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP/MES or equivalent).

Job Description

The Production Planner / Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that ensure on-time delivery to customers while optimizing manufacturing capacity, inventory levels, labor utilization, and material availability. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Procurement team to balance demand and supply while supporting operational efficiency and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer demand, forecast, inventory levels, and production capacity.
• Aligned with supply planner on the build plan and translate into executable manufacturing plans.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address capacity constraints, material shortages, equipment downtime, or changing customer priorities.
• Ensure effective line loading and balanced utilization across manufacturing work centers.

Materials Management

• Coordinate with Procurement teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
• Review material shortages and develop recovery plans to minimize production disruptions.
• Maintain optimal Raw material inventory levels while reducing excess and obsolete inventory.
• Support inventory control and cycle count activities.

Capacity Planning

• Analyze manufacturing capacity, labor availability, and equipment utilization.
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend actions to improve throughput.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and production to optimize production flow and resource allocation.
• Support long-term capacity planning and demand growth requirements.

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, supply chain, or manufacturing operations.

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, MES or equivalent.
