Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Production Planner to develop and maintain production plans ensuring on-time delivery and efficient inventory management. This role coordinates closely with Production, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, Warehouse and Finance teams to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 5 years in production planning within manufacturing, with strong ERP/MRP skills and Excel data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Production Planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP, inventory control, capacity planning, and production scheduling.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Kingdee Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP certification will be an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize production schedules for bulk and ad-hoc orders; verify material availability.
  • Balance machine capacity and manpower; monitor progress and adjust as needed.
  • Plan and coordinate delivery schedules; arrange pick-ups and shipping documentation.
  • Record daily production output and movements in the ERP system; close work orders.
  • Review and validate sales orders; integrate approved orders into the production schedule.
  • Plan material purchases based on forecast; manage safety stock and allocations.
  • Ensure month-end pick lists and ERP transactions are reconciled.
  • Prepare month-end production and inventory reports for Finance.
  • Compile monthly production metrics and coordinate with Marketing on delivery instructions.

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production plans to ensure on-time delivery, optimal utilization of resources, and efficient inventory management. This role coordinates closely with Production, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, Warehouse, and Finance teams to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Daily Responsibilities
Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning
  • Develop and optimize production schedules for both bulk and ad-hoc orders.
  • Verify material availability before scheduling production activities.
  • Balance machine capacity, manpower availability, and operational constraints to maximize efficiency.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as required.
Logistics Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate delivery schedules based on customer requested delivery dates.
  • Arrange product pick-up schedules and transportation requirements.
  • Ensure timely preparation and release of shipping and delivery documentation.
ERP System Management
  • Record and maintain accurate daily production output and delivery information in the ERP system.
  • Execute production receipts and pick lists to ensure accurate inventory movements.
  • Close completed work orders in a timely manner.
Order Processing
  • Review and validate sales orders received from the commercial team.
  • Approve and process orders in accordance with production planning requirements.
  • Integrate approved sales orders into the active production schedule.
Inventory & Material Planning
  • Plan material purchases based on forecasted demand and established safety stock levels.
  • Monitor incoming material deliveries and follow up on delayed shipments.
  • Manage material allocation between ad-hoc and bulk production requirements to prevent shortages.
Monthly Responsibilities
  • Ensure all pick lists are accurately completed and fully reconciled prior to month-end closing.
  • Verify transaction accuracy within the ERP system.
Month-End Reporting
  • Prepare and submit month-end production and inventory reports to the Finance Department.
  • Support accounting reconciliation processes by providing accurate operational data.
Management Reporting
  • Compile monthly production performance summaries.
  • Present key production metrics, inventory status, and operational issues to management.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to review completed work orders pending delivery instructions.
  • Follow up on bulk orders that exceed forecasted delivery dates and implement corrective actions to clear backlogs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Production Planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP, inventory control, capacity planning, and production scheduling.
