Job summary

Powerlife (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Product Development Specialist to lead development of health supplements, functional foods, and personal care products from concept to launch. You will research ingredients, evaluate formulations, and translate consumer insights into safe, effective products.

Collaborating with OEM/ODM, Regulatory, Marketing, Design and Supply Chain teams, you will balance efficacy, safety and cost while ensuring regulatory compliance in Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, Food Science, Food Technology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science or Cosmetic Science.
• Experience in Product Development, R&D, Formulation, Regulatory or Technical roles preferred.
• Experience with health supplements, nutraceuticals, functional foods or personal care products advantageous.
• Strong scientific research and analytical skills; ability to critically evaluate ingredients and formulations.
• Excellent project management, organization, and stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities

• Product & Formulation Development: research ingredients, formulations, and trends; develop concepts and dosages; evaluate OEM/ODM proposals; balance efficacy, safety, regulatory, stability, taste and cost; coordinate sampling and revisions.
• Market Research & Innovation: monitor trends, benchmark competitors, translate insights into concepts; support marketing with scientifically credible positioning.
• Regulatory & Technical Collaboration: work with Regulatory on ingredients, labeling, and feasibility; ensure regulatory compliance in Malaysia; maintain technical documentation.
• OEM & Project Management: manage local and overseas contract manufacturers; coordinate quotations, samples, packaging, timelines and deliverables; identify risks and propose mitigations.
• Track multiple development projects from concept to launch with regular management updates.

Powerlife (M) Sdn Bhd is looking for a Product Development Specialist to lead the development of innovative health supplements, functional foods and personal care products from concept through commercial launch.

This role goes beyond product coordination. We're looking for someone with a strong scientific mindset who enjoys researching ingredients, evaluating formulations, interpreting scientific evidence and transforming consumer insights into safe, effective and commercially successful products.

You'll collaborate closely with OEM/ODM manufacturers and cross-functional teams including Regulatory, Marketing, Design and Supply Chain to bring exciting new products to market.

What You'll Do

Product & Formulation Development

Research ingredients, scientific evidence, formulations and emerging health trends.

Develop product concepts and recommend suitable ingredients, dosages and product formats.

Evaluate and improve formulations proposed by OEM/ODM manufacturers.

Balance efficacy, safety, regulatory compliance, stability, taste, cost and consumer appeal during product development.

Coordinate sampling, formulation revisions and product evaluation until commercial readiness.

Market Research & Innovation

Monitor consumer trends, competitor launches and new ingredient developments.

Conduct competitor benchmarking and identify market opportunities.

Translate market insights into innovative product concepts.

Support Marketing in developing scientifically credible product positioning and USPs.

Regulatory & Technical Collaboration

Work closely with Regulatory to assess ingredients, claims, labelling and product feasibility.

Ensure formulations comply with Malaysian regulatory requirements.

Maintain technical documentation including specifications, certificates, test reports and scientific references.

OEM & Project Management

Manage multiple local and overseas contract manufacturers throughout the development process.

Coordinate quotations, samples, packaging requirements, timelines and technical deliverables.

Proactively identify risks related to formulation, costing, regulation or timelines and recommend solutions.

Track multiple development projects from concept to launch while providing structured progress updates to management.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or above in one of the following (or related disciplines):

Pharmacy / Pharmaceutical Science

Food Science / Food Technology

Biotechnology

Biomedical Science

Cosmetic Science

Experience & Skills

Experience in Product Development, R&D, Formulation, Regulatory or Technical roles is preferred.

Experience in health supplements, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, functional foods or personal care products is highly advantageous.

Experience working with OEM/ODM or contract manufacturers is a strong advantage.

Strong scientific research and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate ingredients and formulations critically.

Excellent project management, organisation and follow-up skills.

Able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.

Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Good command of English; Bahasa Malaysia is preferred.

Fresh graduates with excellent scientific knowledge and a genuine passion for product innovation are encouraged to apply.
