Job summary

NWE BIOTECH SDN BHD is seeking an R&D Formulation Executive to develop nutraceutical, functional food and health beverage formulations based on customer requirements and market trends. Role involves lab trials, documentation and cross-functional collaboration for successful development and scale-up.

Executive level candidates with relevant internship or lab experience are welcome; Senior requires at least 3 years in product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field with strong lab skills.
• Experience in food, functional food, nutraceutical, beverage or health supplement formulation preferred.
• Fresh graduates may be considered for Executive position; Senior requires relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Malaysian food regulations, HACCP, GMP, Halal and labeling advantageous.
• Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory trials, prototype preparation, sensory evaluation and formulation optimization
• Evaluate ingredient compatibility, functionality, stability, dosage, taste, texture and product performance
• Research functional ingredients and provide technical justification for ingredient selection
• Prepare formulation sheets, product specifications, R&D reports, trial records and technical documentation
• Coordinate product testing, including microbiological, heavy metal, nutritional and stability testing
• Work closely with suppliers, contract manufacturers, laboratories and internal departments during product development and commercialization
• Review raw material specifications, certificates of analysis and supporting technical documents
• Ensure formulations comply with applicable Malaysian food regulations, labelling requirements and food safety standards
• Improve existing formulations in terms of taste, stability, cost, functionality and manufacturing feasibility
• Support product scale-up, production trials and technology transfer to contract manufacturers

R&D Formulation Executive / Senior R&D Formulation Executive

Develop new nutraceutical, functional food and health food formulations based on customer requirements and market trends. Formulate products such as powdered beverages, health coffee, meal replacements, protein products, liquid sachets and other functional food products.

Key responsibilities

Conduct laboratory trials, prototype preparation, sensory evaluation and formulation optimization

Evaluate ingredient compatibility, functionality, stability, dosage, taste, texture and product performance

Research functional ingredients and provide technical justification for ingredient selection

Prepare formulation sheets, product specifications, R&D reports, trial records and technical documentation

Coordinate product testing, including microbiological, heavy metal, nutritional and stability testing

Work closely with suppliers, contract manufacturers, laboratories and internal departments during product development and commercialization

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Food Science, Food Technology, Nutritional Science, Biotechnology, Chemistry or another related field

Practical experience in food, functional food, nutraceutical, beverage or health supplement formulation is preferred

Fresh graduates with strong technical knowledge and relevant internship or laboratory experience may be considered for the Executive position

Candidates applying for the Senior position should preferably have at least 3 years of relevant product development or formulation experience

Hands-on experience in powder beverages, health coffee, liquid products, sachets, meal replacements or functional ingredients will be an advantage

Familiarity with Malaysian food regulations, HACCP, GMP, Halal requirements and product labelling will be an added advantage

Able to perform technical research, conduct formulation trials and prepare clear R&D documentation

Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an advantage

Detail-oriented, responsible, analytical and able to manage multiple product development projects

Able to work independently and collaborate with suppliers, laboratories and contract manufacturers

Exposure to a wide range of nutraceutical and functional food development projects
