Job summary

K.K. Metal Processing Sdn. Bhd. in Penang is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to identify and implement efficiency improvements across production and engineering teams. You will analyze data, design new process models, read drawings, and drive Lean initiatives to uplift quality and productivity.

The role requires 1–3+ years in metal fabrication or related fields, with familiarity in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Mastercam. Fresh graduates with strong fundamentals are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Industrial / Materials Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1–3+ years in metal fabrication, sheet metal, machining or heavy manufacturing; fresh graduates with strong fundamentals are welcome to apply.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiar with sheet metal processes: laser/plasma cutting, CNC punching, bending, milling, turning, welding and surface treatment.
  • Proficient reading of mechanical drawings and using CAD/CAM tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam or similar).
  • Understanding of quality and improvement tools: SPC, FMEA, 8D, PPAP/APQP; Lean/Six Sigma awareness is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Support Production and Engineering teams in identifying, verifying, analysing and implementing process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical and analytical support for process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop process analysis and re‑engineering plans to enhance efficiency, productivity, cost management and quality.
  • Facilitate design and implementation of improved process models and organizational structures.
  • Train and guide team members on process improvement methodologies and best practices.
  • Liaise with Production and Engineering teams to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Manage projects, perform data analysis and track progress to meet milestones.
  • Coordinate with departments to review project results and overall performance.
  • Identify and allocate resources to deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Optimise or redesign process flows to meet project targets.
  • Prepare, maintain and update process documentation for reference and audit.
  • Monitor process performance and measure improvements against KPIs.
  • Work with management to define short‑term and long‑term objectives and forecast gains.
  • Establish and update process improvement policies, frameworks and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ensure activities align with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Investigate defects, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimise rework.
  • Review drawings and specifications; define process routes, parameters and work instructions for new and existing products.
  • Support equipment selection, commissioning and capability studies when upgrading machinery.

Job description

Support the Production and Engineering teams in identifying, verifying, analysing and implementing process improvement and process re‑engineering opportunities.

Requirements:
