Job summary

Hunter Philips Executive Search is seeking a PPA Origination Lead to drive commercial origination and development across Southeast Asia, with a focus on data centre operators and large digital infrastructure clients.

The role requires strong experience in corporate renewable PPAs, extensive SEA networks, and a track record in negotiating Letters of Intent, Term Sheets and PPAs toward financial close.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law or Engineering.
• Strong understanding of corporate renewable PPAs and origination.
• Solid Southeast Asia network with power, data centre, and digital infra knowledge.
• Experience leading PPA negotiations with utilities, IPPs or corporates.
• Strong commercial knowledge or modelling capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Origination business development across SE Asia focusing on hyperscale data centres, AI data centre developers, cloud providers, telcos, industrials and multinationals.
• Continuously assess SEA demand and map the rapidly growing data centre market.
• Establish key contacts and build relationships with decision makers in data centre and digital infra markets.
• Design renewable energy solutions including pricing proposals and commercial structures.
• Evaluate contract structures for bankability, affordability and portfolio optimisation.
• Lead negotiation of LOIs, Term Sheets and PPAs through financial close.
• Collaborate with internal teams and with investors, lenders and advisors on revenue contracts.

The Company:

Our client is a leading and highly impressive organisation who is owned by a reputable Asset Management company, who develop, finance, own and operate a wide portfolio of onshore renewables and storage assets across the Asia Pacific region. Further expansion within Southeast Asia has created the opportunity for a PPA Origination Lead to drive and support commercial origination and development activities and opportunities, for existing assets as well as origination, development, and investment of a pipeline of greenfield projects and M&A.

The Role

The primary focus of the role will be across the SE Asia market with a strong focus on building and managing relationships with data centre operators as well as other large digital infrastructure clients who will benefit from energy solutions.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Perform high-priority Origination business development activities across:
• Hyperscale data centres
• AI data centre developers
• Cloud service providers
• Telecommunications operators
• Industrial customers
• Multinational corporations with sustainability commitments
• Continuously assess demand and map the market linked to SEA rapidly growing data centre sector and digital infrastructure market.
• Establish key contacts and build strong relationships with key decision makers across the data centre and digital infrastructure market.
• Design renewable energy solutions tailored to customer requirements including pricing proposals and commercial structures.
• Evaluate contract structures including the bankability, affordability, revenue generation and project portfolio optimisation
• Lead negotiation of Letters of Intent, Term Sheets and PPAs as well as managing commercial matters until financial close is reached.
• Liaise with internal parties i.e. Project Development, Legal, Technical, Finance to help support the approval process
• Work closely with investors, lenders, advisors and counterparties on revenue contract matters.

The Person

The successful candidate will likely have:

• Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Law or Engineering
• Excellent experience and a strong understanding of corporate renewable PPAs, origination, experience for Offtake, route to market etc,
• A strong understanding of buying/selling power for/to Data Centres and other large digital infrastructure clients in Southeast Asia with good knowledge of working with utility-scale projects.
• A solid network in Southeast Asia with good knowledge of power, data centre and large digital infrastructures that will benefit from tailored energy solutions
• Experience leading PPA negotiations with C&I organisations, Utilities, and IPPs
• Strong commercial knowledge or modelling capabilities
