The Role

AMD’s Computing & Graphic group is responsible for advanced CPU, GPU and gaming platforms such as XBOX, PlayStation, and Steam Deck. As a Post-Silicon Power and Performance Senior Staff Engineer you will play a critical role in ensuring our custom silicon products meet power targets and are optimized for customer use cases. You will interact with architecture, software, manufacturing, and other teams to develop a deep understanding of the product power requirements and guide a team of engineers to develop and execute studies and testcases to validate that the product meets specifications. This role requires extensive data analysis and communication of results.

This position is based in Penang collaborating closely with Austin and Shanghai teams.

The Person

We are looking for a technical leader with experience in x86, ARM, or GPU hardware development with a passion for power or performance validation and optimization spanning low-power mobile to console-level devices. This person should thrive in a matrixed environment spanning multiple countries and time zones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own validation and tuning of power functionality and targets, collaborating with manufacturing and customer engineering to enable production.
  • Develop deep expertise in existing and new power features for AMD products.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior team members and guide them through the planning and execution phases of post-silicon power attainment and optimization efforts.
Preferred Experience
  • Technical leadership of a large post-silicon validation and tuning effort.
  • Direct technical experience working on CPU, APU, or GPU power or performance features.
  • Experience analyzing data using Excel, Python, PowerBI, Sigma, or similar tools.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed, and multi-site technical organization.
Academic Credentials
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
