About The Team

The APAX Portfolio Management team within the Life & Health APAX Market Unit optimises the value of the in‑force portfolio across Asia Pacific (excluding China). It drives sustainable profitability through actuarial expertise, commercial insight, and close collaboration with client‑facing, pricing, valuation and finance teams. The team executes management actions and supports strategic initiatives such as treaty reviews, product enhancements and in‑force transactions to protect and maximise value.

About The Role

We seek an experienced, client‑focused professional to join the Portfolio Management team. The role is based in Kuala Lumpur and supports initiatives across the Asia Pacific (excluding China).

Core Responsibilities

• Portfolio Management – support the team in executing management actions for in‑force portfolios, including technical analyses, documentation, presentations and internal/external client discussions.
• Driving initiatives to increase value and manage risk, including:
• Closed treaty reviews to assess profitability and propose actions.
• Technical analyses such as projections, embedded value, and profitability for pricing and transaction purposes.
• Support product or policyholder engagement initiatives.
• Product upgrades and treaty changes – support cross‑functional teams on product changes and react to commercial triggers such as substitute business, pricing changes and operational requirements.
• Experience and performance monitoring – prepare information for portfolio steering, create monitoring processes, and act as a liaison between front‑line teams and actuarial valuations.
• Transactions and governance – support the team leader with referral reviews, approvals, and transaction pre‑deal, post‑deal implementation and monitoring.
• Provide ad‑hoc technical support to the broader team and participate in group‑wide projects.

About You

• Fellowship‑qualified actuary (or nearly qualified) with a recognised Actuarial professional body.
• Minimum 5 years of L&H valuation and pricing experience in reinsurance, primary insurance or actuarial consulting.
• Experience at a reinsurer or with a direct life office handling reinsurance relationships is highly regarded.
• Strong ability to solve complex commercial problems independently.
• End‑to‑end execution mindset with the capacity to connect across the L&H value chain.
• Deep technical knowledge in liability portfolio management, including experience studies, product pricing, valuations, business planning and embedded value.
• Working knowledge of IFRS17 financial reporting regimes.
• Knowledge of the APAX L&H market (Australia / New Zealand preferred).
• Solid analytical and technical skills, with a foundation in data, systems and actuarial models.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience leading meetings and driving outcomes.
• Strong desire to learn, adaptable and flexible.
• Fluent in verbal and written English.
