Job summary

Vanderlande Industries GmbH in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to lead shift operations for PLC controls and automation on our airport baggage handling project. You will provide technical support to the site O&M team, drive improvements, monitor SLAs, and develop programs for reliability and scalability.

The role requires a degree in Electrical/Mechatronic/Electronics Engineering with 5+ years in automation and 3+ years in PLC programming, preferably with Siemens PLCs, and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automation systems including design, installation, commissioning and testing.
• 3+ years of PLC programming, support and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Siemens PLCs and related products.
• Strong knowledge of control panel components, drives and plant visualization systems.
• Experience with PLC-IT interfaces and analog/digital interfaces.

System Upgrade for Airport Baggage Handling System

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the shift operations for PLC Controls and Automation.
• Provide technical support to the site O&M team for troubleshooting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance.
• Monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and implement improvement measures.
• Develop and install programs using automation software and custom coding languages.
• Troubleshoot system errors to minimize downtime.
• Document development processes to ensure system reliability and scalability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, or Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Formal training and certification in PLC programming and system troubleshooting from an OEM.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in automation systems, including design, device selection, installation, commissioning, and testing.
• 3+ years of solid expertise in PLC programming, support, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Siemens PLCs and associated products.
• Extensive knowledge of control panel components, drives, SCADA, DCS, and plant visualization systems.
• Experience with interfaces like PLC-IT, analog, and digital interfaces.
• Hands-on experience in baggage or material handling systems is a strong advantage.
