Job summary

AEL Engineering Sdn. Bhd is seeking a Finance Manager in Malaysia to lead FP&A, accounting & reporting, costing and working capital optimization. You will partner with operations to manage risks and drive forecast accuracy, while upholding IFRS/GAAP compliance and robust internal controls.

The role requires 10+ years of finance experience (including 3+ years in a manager position) in an MNC or large enterprise, with SAP ERP proficiency and strong Excel/PPT skills. Fluency in English is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on finance experience including at least 3 years in a finance manager role.
• Solid FP&A, costing and commercial finance experience in MNCs or large enterprises.
• Proficient in SAP ERP and IFRS/GAAP knowledge.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting and monthly forecasting; consolidate plans in reporting systems.
• Oversee month-end close, consolidation, and accuracy of reports.
• Review statutory and management reports; monitor balance sheet reconciliations.
• Scrutinize inventory aging; maintain accurate BOM and standard costs.
• Analyze quotes, Capex ROI, and project margins; calibrate costing assumptions.
• Drive working capital optimization; manage payables and AR delinquency.
• Ensure internal controls and compliance; support internal/external audits.
• Coach and develop finance team; collaborate with operations for risk mitigation.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Responsibilities

A. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

1. Lead annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.
2. Consolidate and upload financial plans into reporting systems.
3. Partner with operations to manage risks and opportunities.
4. Improve forecast accuracy and support KPI achievement.

B. Accounting & Reporting

1. Lead and oversee month-end closing and consolidation process, ensure actual report uploaded into reporting system in accurate and timely manner.
2. Review and ensure statutory accounting reports and management reporting accurate and reconciled.
3. Review and ensure Balance Sheet reconciliations and analysis are prepared monthly, all open items / aged items are monitored and actioned in time, keep BS clean. In the meanwhile, financial exposures are identified, assessed and timely booked and mitigated.

C. Inventory Control and Costing

1. Scrutinize inventory aging, facilitate to minimize inventory excess and obsolete.
2. Support inventory physical count, fix the root cause of count variance.
3. Ensure accurate BOM, routing and standard cost maintained in system from time to time.
4. Ensure cost variances are reviewed and remedy actions are taken in time manner.
5. Drive continuous improvement on cost reduction for both above gross margin and below gross margin.

D. Commercial

1. Review quotation cost and price, Capex investment and return on investment analysis, ensure new project margin and commercial terms in line with business target.
2. Review key project execution, analyze deviation from target P&L and ROI, calibrate quotation costing assumption, drive remedy actions to achieve project targets.

E. Working Capital Optimization

1. Review and approve payables
2. Ensure credit control in place, drive the settlement on AR delinquency.
3. Drive initiatives to improve cash conversion cycle including DSO, DIO and DPO.

F. Internal Controls & Compliance

1. Ensure financial transactions are in line with corporate finance policy and ensure adherence to corporate ethic policies and internal controls.
2. Support periodic internal audits and assist in external audits.

G. Tax Compliance

1. Ensure tax declarations comply with local tax regulations, tax risks are highlighted and mitigated in timely manner.
2. Ensure to meet requirements for all tax incentive schemes.

H. Coach and develop finance team

Requirements and skills

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, CPA/ACCA/CMA or member of any professional accounting body is a plus.
• 10+ years hands on finance experience (incl. at least 3 years in finance manager position) in MNC or large enterprises preferably in mechanical, electrical and/or communications industry, handled overall finance scope, with solid FP&A, Costing and Commercial finance experiences.
• Be proficient in the SAP ERP
• Familiar with local GAAP, tax regulation and IFRS GAAP
• Fluent in both written and spoken English
• Strong excel, PPT skill
