The Photonic and Electronic Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of photonic and electronic systems used in the company’s products and operations. The role involves working with optical components, sensors, imaging systems, electronic circuits, embedded systems, and related technologies to support product development, manufacturing, and technical innovation.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop photonic systems involving LEDs, lasers, optical sensors, imaging systems, and related components
- Evaluate optical performance, light distribution, and signal quality
- Conduct optical measurements, calibration, and validation
- Design analog and digital electronic circuits and develop schematics and PCB layouts
- Develop and test embedded control systems and interface sensors, actuators, displays, and communication modules
- Perform functional, electrical, and optical testing on prototypes and production units
- Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality, and Marketing teams to support new product development
- Provide technical support for production issues and investigate failures
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, design documentation, and SOPs
- Ensure designs comply with safety and regulatory requirements
- Support exhibitions, demonstrations and technical presentations when required
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Photonics Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics (with photonics/electronics specialization) or a related field
- 2–5 years of relevant experience preferred for engineer-level positions
- Experience with optical systems, electronic design, or embedded systems
- Understanding of optics, lasers, LEDs, imaging systems, and optical sensors
- Circuit design and analysis skills
- Experience with PCB design tools (Altium, KiCad, Eagle, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of microcontrollers (STM32, Arduino, ESP32, PIC, etc.)
- Familiarity with communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, USB)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with willingness to learn new technologies
Salary range : RM3,000 to RM8,000 (based on experiences)
