You will work with pharmacists, doctors, and nursing staff, handling billing reconciliation and comprehensive stock management while contributing to process improvements and medication safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Screen, check, analyze, and process incoming prescriptions for completeness, legality, and accuracy.
  • Execute, process, and operate prescription filling and dispensing procedures per pharmacy protocols.
  • Check prepared medications against original prescriptions for accuracy and safety.
  • Dispense and provide medications with usage instructions; escalate complex queries to Pharmacist.
  • Produce and process pharmaceutical preparations for stock or extemporaneous use under supervision.
  • Repack, label, and ensure packaging standards for bulk medications with traceability.
  • Maintain5 Rights of medication safety throughout dispensing and distribution processes.
  • Monitor stock levels and usage data to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Prepare indents for floor medications per inventory procedures.
  • Check, analyze, rotate slow-moving and short-expiry meds; submit discrepancies.
  • Unpack and record ward-returned medications per policy.
  • Operate inventory and stock control systems for real-time tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with stock-taking data, variance reports, and reconciliations.
  • Submit daily and monthly pharmacy statistics per quality indicators.
  • Process discharge billing reconciliation using electronic billing systems.
  • Install and operate electronic pharmacy systems for prescription entry, inventory, and billing.
  • Liaise with pharmacists, doctors, and nurses to support patient care and workflow.
  • Guide and train new pharmacy assistants and trainees in daily activities.
  • Analyze and propose workflow improvements to enhance service efficiency.
  • Identify and report medication errors, incidents, and near misses promptly.
  • Implement safe handling, labeling, and storage procedures for all medications.

Job description

Main Responsibilities
  • 1. Screen, check, analyze, and process incoming prescriptions (inpatient, outpatient, and discharge) for completeness, legality, and accuracy prior to dispensing.
  • 2. Execute, process, and operate prescription filling and dispensing procedures in accordance with approved pharmacy protocols and policies.
  • 3. Check, prepare, and countercheck prepared medications against original prescriptions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and patient safety.
  • 4. Dispense, provide, and distribute medications to patients with appropriate usage instructions, escalating complex queries to the Pharmacist.
  • 5. Produce, compound, execute, and process pharmaceutical preparations (mixtures, dilutions) for stock or extemporaneous use under pharmacist supervision.
  • 6. Repack, label, check, and implement proper packaging standards for bulk medications to ensure traceability and regulatory compliance.
  • 7. Implement, execute, and maintain the “5 Rights” of medication safety throughout dispensing and distribution processes.
  • 8. Gather, collate, analyze, and monitor stock and usage data to ensure adequate supply levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • 9. Prepare Indents for floor medications in accordance with inventory procedures.
  • 10. Check, analyze, rotate, and monitor slow-moving and short-expiry medications, and submit discrepancy reports to the Pharmacist.
  • 11. Unpack, check, process, collate, and record ward-returned medications accurately in line with hospital policy.
  • 12. Operate, implement, and analyze inventory and stock control systems to ensure real-time tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • 13. Participate, assist, collate, and submit pharmacy and hospital stock-taking data, variance reports, and reconciliation findings.
  • 14. Compile, collate, analyze, and submit daily and monthly pharmacy statistics in line with quality indicators and reporting requirements.
  • 15. Implement, operate, check, and process discharge billing reconciliation and finalization accurately using electronic billing systems.
  • 16. Install, operate, and implement electronic pharmacy systems for prescription entry, inventory management, and billing functions.
  • 17. Liaise, communicate, and collaborate effectively with pharmacists, doctors, and nursing staff to support patient care and workflow efficiency.
  • 18. Guide, assist, provide, and support new pharmacy assistants and trainees in daily operational activities.
  • 19. Analyze, provide feedback, and propose workflow and process improvements to enhance service coordination and efficiency.
  • 20. Identify and submit reports on medication errors, incidents, and near misses promptly to the Pharmacist or Chief Pharmacist.
  • 21. Implement, execute, and maintain safe handling, labeling, and storage procedures for all medications in accordance with policy.
