Job summary

UM Specialist Centre (UMSC) in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to dispense medications, prepare drugs and counsel customers on drug delivery devices. You will assist in compounding, packaging and checking medications, and ensure timely delivery to wards.

The role requires a Diploma in Pharmacy with 1–4 years hospital pharmacy experience, strong inventory knowledge, and the ability to multitask under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Screening and order entry of prescriptions and drug charts
• Confirmation with doctors in the event of illegible handwriting, dosage/frequency/duration error or drug unavailability
• Compounding pharmaceutical products for extemporaneous use
• Packaging, labelling, checking and dispensing of medications
• Sending prepared medications to the ward
• Conducting monthly ward check and pharmacy stock check on slow moving items and short expiry items
• Providing patient counselling when required
• Providing drug information to patients, doctors, nurses and other hospital personnel
• Restocking drugs in pharmacy, wards and units
• Ensuring adequate inventory level of general supplies for smooth service operation

Job description

Required to perform various tasks within the Pharmacy Services including dispensing, preparation of drugs, compounding, repacking and counseling of customers regarding drug delivery devices to ensure safe and effective dispensation of medication.

Key responsibilities
