UST is seeking an experienced PCB design engineer in Penang to translate design requirements into layout files and manage end-to-end PCB design from layout to Gerber release.

You will collaborate with Design and Mechanical teams, coordinate with fabrication and assembly houses, and perform SI/EMI-aware routing and impedance-controlled differential pairs. Prior experience with high-speed designs is essential.

Competenze

• Hands-on experience in high-speed PCB design using Cadence Allegro PCB Editor.
• Strong knowledge of Net, Pin Pair, and Combination-Net (Xnets) length matching.
• Expertise in CAM setup and Gerber generation.
• Good understanding of DFM, DFA, and DFT requirements.
• Expertise in edge-coupled and broadside-coupled differential pairs, incl. impedance control.
• Expertise in via technologies: Through-Hole, Blind, Buried, Micro, and Power vias.
• Strong understanding of critical signal routing, crosstalk, EMI/EMC, clock signals, and mixed-signal routing.
• Experience preparing PCB fabrication and assembly drawings.
• Advanced knowledge of PCB design constraints and Constraint Manager.
• Experience in documenting PCB design guidelines, processes, checklists, and training materials.

• Conduct board placement studies with single- or double-sided layouts and varying shapes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand requirements from the Design and Mechanical teams and translate them into PCB layout designs.
• Handle complete PCB design from initial layout through Gerber review and final release, ensuring all required design standards are met.
• Coordinate with PCB fabrication and assembly houses to follow up on fabrication and assembly status.
• Participate in PCB layout reviews with customers and PCB manufacturers.
• Perform DDR and non-DDR design studies, evaluating different design rule (DR) combinations such as trace width, spacing, length, total layer count, and component/package placement.
• Conduct PCH studies using different design rule combinations, layer counts, and placement/location options on the package or board.
• Support miscellaneous CAD requests, including modifying or swapping traces and relocating or adding components.
• Perform ad-hoc PCB design tasks and quick design studies as required.
• Create and modify BOMs, schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and other related design items.
• Perform actual DDR and non-DDR trace routing according to defined design rules and identified PCB layers.
• Support full product/board design, including interface assignments and power assignments based on the provided schematic. This may also include component placement, constraint setting, and other board design requirements.
• Design test vehicle boards, including assembly test vehicles, Signal Integrity/Power Delivery (SI/PD) measurement boards, impedance boards, and other test boards.
• Conduct board placement studies, considering single-sided or double-sided placement, different board shapes, and different component/part solutions.
