Job summary

Neara is seeking a Payroll Implementation Manager – Malaysia to act as the payroll SME for all Malaysia implementations. You will lead country-specific activities from discovery through go-live, ensuring compliance with Malaysian legislation and best practices.

Fluency in English and Malay is required, with a minimum of 10 years’ payroll experience and hands-on use of Malaysia payroll software. You will collaborate with the Payroll Project Manager, Sales, Product, and Engineering to deliver

  • Experience with Malaysia payroll engines (ideally Cadena).
  • Strong stakeholder management and customer consulting skills.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and fix inefficient legacy processes and implement scalable solutions.
  • Validate payroll configuration with Product and Engineering.
  • Lead payroll testing, parallel runs and payroll validation.
  • Support go-live readiness and the first payroll processing.
  • Advise Sales on Malaysia payroll requirements.
  • Identify legislative risks and dependencies.
  • Contribute to product enhancements and implementation methods.
  • Own Malaysia implementation playbooks and knowledge sharing.

Role Summary

As the Payroll Implementation Manager – Malaysia, you will serve as the payroll subject matter expert (SME) for all Malaysia payroll implementations. Working alongside a dedicated Payroll Project Manager, who owns overall project governance, timelines and delivery, you will lead all country‑specific payroll activities from discovery through go‑live. You will ensure every implementation is compliant with Malaysia legislation, aligned to best practice, and delivered to the highest quality.

You will be recognised as the internal authority for Malaysia payroll, providing expert guidance to Customers, Sales, Product, Engineering and Payroll Operations. This role requires a minimum of 10 years’ experience managing Malaysia payroll, extensive hands‑on experience with Malaysia payroll software, and fluency in Malaysia and English.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the recognised SME for Malaysia payroll implementations.
  • Lead payroll discovery workshops and advise Customers on legislation and best practice.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience processing and implementing Malaysia payroll.
  • Extensive experience operating Malaysia payroll in‑house.
  • Expert knowledge of Malaysia payroll legislation, tax, social insurance and statutory reporting.
  • Extensive experience with leading Malaysia payroll engines (ideally Cadena).
  • Strong stakeholder management and customer consulting skills.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Country Requirements
  • Must be based in Malaysia.
  • Must have the legal right to work in Malaysia.
  • Must be fluent in English, and Malay (written and spoken).
  • Must have hands‑on implementation and operational experience with Malaysia payroll software.
