Job summary

SD Guthrie Berhad invites applications for an Agronomy Research role focused on improving oil palm agronomic practices and sustainability. You will design and conduct trials, plan fertiliser programmes, and advise estates on best practices to boost yield. Training staff and data collection support are also part of the role.

Fresh graduates are welcome; travel to estates and fieldwork are required in tropical outdoor conditions. Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and English is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Science or related discipline.
• Fresh graduates welcomed; up to 2 years of relevant experience considered.
• Fundamental knowledge of agronomy, soil fertility, plant nutrition and fertiliser management.
• Experience with oil palm, plantation agriculture or field sampling is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; GIS/GPS exposure is advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Willingness for regular fieldwork and travel to estates or research locations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct oil palm trials to improve agronomic practices.
• Plan and provide fertiliser application programmes and recommendations.
• Advise estates on good agronomic practices for yield improvement.
• Provide training/clinics on agronomic aspects for staff.
• Assist superior with data gathering and advisory services.
