Job summary

SD Guthrie International in Selangor, Malaysia, is seeking a driven Agricultural Science graduate to join our oil palm research and estate teams. You will conduct trials, plan fertiliser programmes, and advise estates on best agronomic practices to boost yield.

Training staff and accurate data collection are key parts of the role. You will travel to estates for fieldwork, support sustainability initiatives, and work under tropical outdoor conditions, with emphasis on safety and precise

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Plant Science, or related discipline.
Fresh graduates encouraged; candidates with up to two years of relevant experience may be considered.
Basic knowledge of agronomy, soil fertility, plant nutrition, fertiliser management, field experimentation, and sustainable agricultural practices.
Internship, research, or fieldwork exposure in oil palm, plantation agriculture, soil or foliar sampling, crop monitoring, or agricultural data collection is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; exposure to GIS, GPS, or digital field data collection tools is advantageous.
Good written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to maintain accurate field and research records.
Willing to undertake regular fieldwork, travel to estates or research locations, and work under tropical outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

Conduct oil palm trials to improve agronomic practices.
Plan and provide fertiliser application programme and recommendations.
Advise estates on good agronomic practices for yield improvement.
Provide training/clinics in various agronomic aspects for staff of estate operation.
Assist superior in data gathering and compilation for advisory services.
Plan and supervise oil palm and foliar sampling work.
Conduct and implement sustainability practices in the estate.
Carry out any other task or project instructed by superior.
