Job summary

Coherent Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks an experienced engineer to support optical device testing and repair in a high-volume production environment. You will work with electronics, test equipment, and circuit diagrams to help improve yield, reduce scrap, and validate product specs.

The role requires a Diploma in Engineering and at least 5 years of hands-on experience with optical devices, PCBA troubleshooting, and test instruments such as Spectrum Analyzers and oscilloscopes.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Optoelectronics or Telecommunications).
• 5+ years of experience in optical device testing/repair in a mass production environment.
• Familiar with optical devices and PCBA troubleshooting.
• Good computer literacy and communication skills.
• Familiar with test instruments (Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes).

Responsibilities

• Assist the product engineer in terms of product family targets and yield improvements.
• Support PE evaluations, projects and analysis; BOM cost improvements.
• Improve debug accuracy and train with PE buddy; retest reduction opportunities.
• Maintain Scrap Cost Monitoring by Product.
• Ensure compliance to Safety, ESD, Cleanroom and housekeeping guidelines.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• Perform other duties as directed by the immediate superior.
• Derive continual improvement; practice risk-based thinking.
• Compliance to ISO requirements and company rules & regulations.
