Galatek Semiconductor in Penang is seeking an Operations Manager/Director to lead daily manufacturing operations and scale our Penang facility. You will report to the Director of Commercial Operations and align local execution with global strategy from Singapore headquarters.

This high-ownership role requires scaling capacity, optimizing SOPs, and leading cross-functional teams to manufacture complex, high-precision mechatronic systems for global customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 5–10 years in manufacturing operations management, incl. greenfield/brownfield launches.
• Proven track record in high-precision mechatronics, semiconductor capital equipment, or industrial automation.
• Strong execution and problem-solving across multi-threaded launch plans.
• Excellent communication and regional collaboration; Mandarin fluency mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Drive Operational Excellence: optimize workflows, Lean processes, and SOPs for throughput and cost control.
• Lead Production & Output: translate milestones into quarterly/monthly targets with on-time shipments.
• Master NPI & Process Transfer: coordinate with R&D for successful transfers, pilots, line setup, validations.
• Oversee Supply Chain & Logistics: manage local warehouse, inventory, and shipping.
• Ensure EHS & Quality Compliance: enforce ISO standards and workplace safety across the plant.
• Build & Mentor Teams: scale manufacturing, logistics, and technician workforce.

About the Role

We are seeking an Operations Manager/Director to lead daily manufacturing operations and drive the strategic scaling of our Penang facility. Reporting directly to the Director of Commercial Operations, you will serve as the operational anchor - bridging global strategy from our Singapore headquarters with high-precision execution on the factory floor.

This is a high-impact, high-ownership role where you will scale production capacity, optimize SOPs, manage logistics, and lead cross-functional teams to manufacture complex, non-standard mechatronic systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Operational Excellence: Continually optimize manufacturing workflows, Lean processes, and SOPs to maximize throughput, eliminate bottlenecks, and maintain cost efficiency.
• Lead Production & Output: Translate global corporate milestones into clear quarterly and monthly targets, ensuring high-yield output, tight accountability, and on-time shipments.
• Master NPI & Process Transfer: Partner with regional R&D to ensure seamless New Product Introduction (NPI) transfers, pilot runs, line setup, and tool validations.
• Oversee Supply Chain & Logistics: Direct local warehouse operations, material readiness, inventory control, and shipping to maintain high inventory turnover and accuracy.
• Ensure EHS & Quality Compliance: Enforce strict manufacturing quality (ISO standards), governance, and local workplace safety (OSHA) across factory operations.
• Build & Mentor Teams: Scale and mentor the local manufacturing, logistics, and technician workforce, building a high-performance culture of quality and ownership.

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 5-10 years in manufacturing operations management, including hands‑on involvement in a greenfield/brownfield factory launch or major workshop setup.
• Domain Background: Proven expertise in high-precision mechatronics assembly, non-standard equipment manufacturing, semiconductor capital equipment, or industrial automation.
• Execution & Problem-Solving: Demonstrated capability managing multi-threaded launch plans (hiring, training, line setup, pilot runs) under tight execution schedules.
• Communication & Regional Collaboration: Professional working proficiency in English. Fluency in Mandarin is a must to communicate effectively with regional engineers, technical suppliers, and vendors.
