Job summary

Salcon Berhad is seeking an O&M Engineer to oversee daily operation and maintenance of a Solar PV Plant in Sungai Siput, Perak. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and lead maintenance activities, ensure safety procedures, and supervise the O&M Technician on site.

The role requires a diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy, 2+ years in Solar PV O&M, and hands-on capability with electrical systems and SCADA. A valid driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of Solar PV O&M or electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience with solar PV plant operations and maintenance.
• Knowledge of SCADA and plant monitoring systems.
• Valid driving licence; GDL licence is an added advantage.
• Able to work independently and on site.

• Monitor daily operation and performance of the Solar PV Plant, including PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA/monitoring systems and equipment.
• Monitor plant generation, alarms, equipment status and downtime; identify abnormal conditions.
• Perform troubleshooting and take corrective actions; supervise preventive and corrective maintenance with the O&M team.
• Coordinate repair works and follow up on outstanding faults until completion.
• Perform authorised LV switching, isolation and Permit-to-Work procedures.
• Supervise the O&M Technician and provide technical guidance; manage daily work priorities and timelines.

Job description

We are looking for an O&M Engineer to oversee and support the daily operation and maintenance of a Solar PV Plant in Sungai Siput, Perak. The role involves plant monitoring, troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, authorised LV switching, safety compliance, reporting and supervision of the O&M Technician.

Key responsibilities

Monitor the daily operation and performance of the Solar PV Plant, including PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA/monitoring systems and associated equipment.

Monitor plant generation, alarms, equipment status and downtime, and identify abnormal operating conditions.

Carry out initial troubleshooting and take appropriate corrective action when required.

Carry out and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities with the O&M team.

Troubleshoot and rectify electrical, mechanical and equipment faults where practicable.

Coordinate repair works and follow up on outstanding faults until completion.

Perform authorised Low Voltage (LV) switching, isolation and restoration works within the scope of the candidate's valid A4 competency.

Ensure electrical switching, isolation, LOTO and Permit-to-Work procedures are properly followed.

Supervise and provide technical guidance to the O&M Technician in daily operation and maintenance activities.

Coordinate daily work priorities and ensure assigned tasks are completed properly and within the required timeline.

About you

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related field.

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Solar PV O&M, electrical maintenance or a related field.

Experience in solar PV plant operations and maintenance will be an advantage.

Good knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear and electrical troubleshooting.

Familiar with SCADA and plant monitoring systems.

Good understanding of electrical safety requirements, LOTO and Permit-to-Work procedures.

Valid driving licence is required; GDL licence is an added advantage.

Able to work independently and perform hands‑on site work.

Good leadership, coordination and problem‑solving skills.
