Job summary

Salcon Berhad is seeking an O&M Engineer to supervise daily operation and maintenance of a Solar PV Plant in Sungai Siput, Perak. You will monitor performance, troubleshoot, and supervise the O&M Technician to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Based in Sungai Siput, you will lead preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinate LV switching within your competency, and ensure compliance with safety and LOTO procedures while reporting to the O&M Manager.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Solar PV O&M, electrical maintenance or a related field.
• Experience in solar PV plant operations and maintenance is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear and electrical troubleshooting.
• Familiar with SCADA and plant monitoring systems.
• Good understanding of electrical safety requirements, LOTO and Permit-to-Work procedures.
• Valid driving licence is required; GDL licence is an added advantage.
• Able to work independently and perform hands-on site work.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the daily operation and performance of the Solar PV Plant, including PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA/monitoring systems and associated equipment.
• Monitor plant generation, alarms, equipment status and downtime, and identify abnormal operating conditions.
• Carry out initial troubleshooting and take appropriate corrective action when required.
• Carry out and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance activities with the O&M team.
• Troubleshoot and rectify electrical, mechanical and equipment faults where practicable.
• Coordinate repair works and follow up on outstanding faults until completion.
• Perform authorised Low Voltage (LV) switching, isolation and restoration works within the scope of the candidate's valid A4 competency.
• Ensure electrical switching, isolation, LOTO and Permit-to-Work procedures are properly followed.
• Supervise and provide technical guidance to the O&M Technician in daily operation and maintenance activities.
• Coordinate daily work priorities and ensure assigned tasks are completed properly and within the required timeline.
• Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure compliance with safety requirements, PPE and safe working practices.
• Prepare and maintain operational, maintenance, incident and equipment records.
• Monitor plant generation, equipment faults, downtime and corrective actions.
• Monitor tools, consumables and spare parts and coordinate replenishment requirements with the O&M Manager/HOD.
• Coordinate and supervise solar PV panel cleaning activities to maintain plant performance and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the O&M Manager or management.
