Job summary

Sun Pharmaceutical Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is looking for an Officer - Engineering (Electrical & Instrumentation) to ensure reliable operation, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical and instrumentation systems across OSD manufacturing, utilities, and facility equipment. You will maintain safety, GMP compliance, and regulatory readiness to support scalable production.

The role requires 3–5 years in a regulated environment, with strong PLC/SCADA and automation skills.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of experience in regulated manufacturing environments (pharma/medical/food).
• Knowledge of PLC/SCADA, electrical systems, automation, and troubleshooting practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain LT/HT systems, MCC, PCC, transformers, UPS, DG sets, and cleanroom electrical systems.
• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance to support reliable plant operations.
• Ensure uninterrupted power supply for OSD production lines and equipment.
• Troubleshoot instruments and support calibration activities.
• Manage PLC/SCADA systems and troubleshoot automation issues.
• Coordinate with OEMs to troubleshoot equipment and restore machines with minimal downtime.
• Support HVAC controls for cleanrooms including differential pressure, temperature and humidity control.
• Maintain instrumentation for process equipment and support process automation development.
• Follow GMP and NPRA standards and maintain maintenance records and SOPs.
• Support audits and CAPA implementation.

Job description

Officer - Engineering (Electrical & Instrumentation)

Ensure the reliable operation, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical and instrumentation systems supporting Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing, utilities, and facility equipment. The role is responsible for maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient systems in line with GMP, NPRA standards, regulatory requirements, and safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

Maintain LT/HT systems, MCC, PCC, transformers, UPS, DG sets, and cleanroom electrical systems.

Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance to support reliable plant operations.

Ensure uninterrupted power supply for OSD production lines, including granulation, compression, coating, and packing.

Troubleshoot instruments and support planned calibration activities.

Manage PLC/SCADA systems and troubleshoot automation issues.

Coordinate with OEMs to troubleshoot equipment and systems and restore machines with minimal downtime.

Support HVAC controls for OSD cleanrooms, including differential pressure, temperature, and humidity control.

Maintain instrumentation for process equipment such as FBD, FBE, HSMG, blenders, compression machines, coaters, blister machines, and cartonators.

Support process automation development to simplify processes and optimise process time.

Maintain SOPs, logs, and applicable maintenance records in accordance with GMP requirements.

Support audits and CAPA implementation.

Participate in equipment installation and qualification activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ.

Support equipment upgrades and process improvement projects.

Follow electrical safety and LOTO procedures.

Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe working practices.

Monitor equipment uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, audit readiness, and energy efficiency.

What we're looking for

Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.

3–5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, medical, food manufacturing, or a similar regulated manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems, electrical systems, automation, and troubleshooting practices.

Understanding of GMP, NPRA standards, maintenance documentation, and equipment qualification requirements.

Ability to work safely with electrical systems and apply LOTO procedures.

Strong problem-solving, coordination, documentation, and continuous improvement skills.
