Job summary

ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors in Penang, Malaysia seeks an experienced process/manufacturing engineer with 5+ years in LED/semiconductor packaging. You will collaborate with R&D on new product development, drive cost-down efforts, and lead project initiatives to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Responsibilities include leading a team of engineers and technicians, coordinating material changes, and performing risk assessments during NPD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science, B.Engineering, B.Sc Physics, B.Sc Electronic Engineering
• Min 5 years involved in the LED Manufacturing / Semiconductors Field
• Min 5 years working experience in LED/ IC assembly packaging process as process/process integration engineer roles
• Experience & ability to lead a group of engineers & technicians
• Knowledge on Semiconductors & LED characteristics, NPI management, LED Manufacturing Process, LED Testing concepts
• Knowledge on Minitab, Six Sigma tools; strong analytical skills; 8D problem solving; planning & organizing; project management
• Fluency in English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia; German language capability is a plus

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with R&D on new product development to design for cost, quality & manufacturability
• Drive cost-down improvements and manage change projects
• Lead start-up of new product development with R&D for cost/quality/manufacturability
• Participate in risk and manufacturability assessments during NPD as the manufacturing representative
• Lead continuous cost-down/productivity/quality improvement initiatives
• Coordinate material changes and qualification risk assessments

Job description

The ams OSRAM Opto Semiconductors business offers high-performance opto semiconductor components and in-depth support for state-of-the-art system solutions based on innovative semiconductor light sources. The Business Unit can look back on almost fifty years of production and development expertise.

• Governer and active participation in earlier involvement for simultanoues engineering with R&D team for new product development to design for cost, quality & manufacturability and then hand shake with operation team to achieve flawless ramp expectations for new product release.
• Drive product cost down improvement and manage change project.
• Participate in earlier involvement for start up of new product development by working with R&D team to design for cost, quality & manufacturability.
• Actively participate in risk and manufacturability assessment during new product development phase as the key representative from manufacturing.
  Overall responsible for process handshake readiness to enable smooth new product phase into manufacturing.
• Lead continuous cost down/ productivity / quality improvement initiative.
• Coordinate proliferation of alternative packaging materials qualification. Coordinate and manage material change risk assessment & qualification.
