Job summary

Guppy Plastic Industries in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Mold Operator (Mold Handling) to safely install and remove molds on injection molding machines. You will ensure proper alignment, clamping, and labeling to support production changeovers while minimizing downtime and safety risks.

Work closely with technicians and the production team, perform pre-installation checks, and follow SOPs. The role requires physical fitness and strict adherence to safety procedures when using lifting equipment.

Qualifications

• Mold handling experience or understanding required.
• Ability to read technical instructions and SOPs.
• Must be physically fit to handle heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Quality & Environmental Management System (ISO 9001/ISO 14001).
• Perform mold loading (installation) and unloading (removal) on injection molding machines.
• Ensure proper alignment, clamping and securing of molds before start-up.
• Coordinate with technicians and production during mold changeovers.
• Conduct pre-installation checks to ensure molds are clean and in good condition.
• Use lifting equipment safely for mold handling.
• Follow SOPs for mold change and handling.
• Inspect molds during removal for damage or abnormalities and report issues.
• Label, document and store molds after removal.
• Maintain cleanliness of molds, platens and surrounding work area.
• Support reduction of mold changeover time (SMED initiatives).
• Adhere to safety regulations and use PPE at all times.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

The Mold Operator (Mold Handling) is primarily responsible for the safe and efficient uploading (installation) and downloading (removal) of molds on injection molding machines. The role ensures molds are handled, mounted, and stored properly to support production changeovers while minimizing damage, downtime, and safety risks.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To comply with the requirements of the Quality & Environmental Management System that meets ISO 9001 &ISO 14001 standard.

2. Perform mold loading (installation) and unloading (removal) on injection molding machines according to production schedules

3. Ensure proper alignment, clamping, and securing of molds before machine start-up

4. Coordinate with technicians and production team during mold changeovers

5. Conduct pre-installation checks to ensure molds are clean, complete, and in good condition

6. Use lifting equipment (e.g., crane, hoist, forklift) safely for mold handling

7. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for mold change and handling

8. Inspect molds during removal for any damage or abnormalities and report issues

9. Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and storage of molds after removal

10. Maintain cleanliness of molds, platens, and surrounding work area

11. Support reduction of mold changeover time (SMED initiatives)

12. Adhere strictly to safety regulations and use of PPE at all times

13. To perform any other duties as assigned by the superior.
