Job summary

Suzhou Terminal Operations Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking an experienced Mobile Harbour Crane Operator to support port and bulk cargo handling at the Port of Tanjung Langsat, Johor. You will operate a mobile harbour crane and mechanical grabs while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 3+ years of crane experience, Mandarin proficiency, and a valid crane operator certificate recognized by JKKP/DOSH. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating mobile harbour cranes or comparable heavy-duty port cranes.
• Mandarin proficiency is mandatory for communication with Chinese technical personnel.
• Possess a valid crane operator competency certificate recognised by JKKP/DOSH.
• Experience with bulk cargo handling is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of crane load charts and lifting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate the mobile harbour crane safely and efficiently for vessel loading, unloading and bulk cargo handling.
• Operate mechanical grab attachments per procedures and manufacturer instructions.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and complete daily crane inspection checklists.
• Follow crane load charts, lifting plans, and equipment limits.
• Comply with crane travel routes, wheel-load restrictions and outrigger positioning.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Mobile Harbour Crane Operator to support port and bulk cargo handling operations at the Port of Tanjung Langsat, Johor. The successful candidate will operate a mobile harbour crane and mechanical grab attachments, ensuring safe and efficient cargo handling in compliance with applicable Malaysian regulatory requirements and terminal safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the mobile harbour crane safely and efficiently for vessel loading, unloading and bulk cargo handling.
• Operate mechanical grab attachments according to approved operating procedures and manufacturer instructions.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections and complete daily crane inspection checklists.
• Follow crane load charts, approved lifting plans and equipment operating limits.
• Comply with approved crane travel routes, wheel-load restrictions and outrigger positioning requirements.
• Coordinate with supervisors, riggers and signalers during lifting and cargo handling operations.
• Identify and report equipment defects, unsafe conditions and operational incidents immediately.
• Maintain records of crane inspections, operating hours and maintenance issues.
• Comply with JKKP/DOSH requirements, company HSE policies and terminal safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

About you

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating mobile harbour cranes or comparable heavy-duty port cranes.
• Mandarin proficiency is mandatory, with the ability to communicate effectively with Chinese technical personnel.
• Possess a valid crane operator competency certificate recognised by JKKP/DOSH and applicable to the equipment classification and operating duties, where required.
• Experience operating mobile harbour cranes and mechanical grabs for bulk cargo handling is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of crane load charts, lifting procedures, equipment inspections and workplace safety requirements.
• Able to operate the crane safely and responsibly while following approved site‑specific operating restrictions.
• Willing to undergo equipment‑specific training and practical competency assessment before independent operation.
• Willing to work shifts, overtime and weekends when required.
