Job summary

GKN Automotive is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Malaysia to support quality inspection, metallurgical testing, and precise dimensional measurements in our manufacturing lab.

This role collaborates with manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with ISO quality standards, collect and analyze test data, and document results for product validation and supplier audits. A proactive mindset and attention to safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Metallurgy, or related fields.
• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, quality, laboratory, or inspection.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience with tools/gauges management.
• Understanding of (MSA) Measurement System Analysis will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical and metallurgical testing, dimensional measurements, and material verification according to laboratory procedures.
• Conduct quality inspection, instrument programming, testing, and instrument calibration in line with quality standards.
• Support product audits and ensure compliance with product specifications across manufacturing stages.
• Collect, analyze, and document test data for product/process validation, material approval, and customer requirements.
• Identify issues related to materials, manufacturing processes, or measurement systems and support corrective actions.
• Apply health, safety, and laboratory safe working practices at all times.
