Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to support cost management for data centre and mission-critical projects. You will assist pre-contract and post-contract activities, working with senior team members, clients and contractors across CSA or MEP packages.

• Bachelor-level degree in a relevant discipline as listed (QS, cost/construction management, civil/mechanical/electrical).
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, cost management or commercial management.
• Professional accreditation such as MRICS or RICS is advantageous.
• Experience with data centres, semiconductor facilities, industrial projects or large-scale developments is beneficial.
• Experience supporting CSA or MEP packages within projects is advantageous.

• Assist in pre-contract and post-contract cost management activities across project lifecycle.
• Support cost planning, budgets, benchmarking, value engineering, and tender documentation.
• Review design information for cost implications and risks; monitor budgets and cost performance.

Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Cost Manager to support the delivery of cost management services for data centre and mission-critical projects.

The successful candidate will assist in both pre-contract and post-contract activities, working closely with senior team members, clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders. Candidates with experience in either CSA (Civil, Structural & Architectural) or MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) packages are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of cost plans, estimates, budgets, and cost reports throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support feasibility studies, benchmarking exercises, and value engineering initiatives.
• Review design information and identify potential cost implications and risks.
• Assist in monitoring project budgets and cost performance.
• Support the preparation of tender documentation and procurement packages.
• Assist with tender evaluations, commercial assessments, and bid analysis.
• Review contractor and supplier quotations and provide cost comparisons.
• Support procurement and contract award activities.

Post-Contract Services

• Assist in the management of project costs, variations, and change control processes.
• Review payment applications and support valuation exercises.
• Prepare regular cost reports and financial updates.
• Assist with final account administration and project close-out activities.
• Maintain accurate project records and commercial documentation.

Stakeholder Management

• Work collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
• Attend project meetings, cost reviews, and commercial discussions.
• Support the delivery of high-quality cost management and client advisory services.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or Commercial Management.
• Working towards or interested in obtaining professional accreditation such as MRICS or RICSis advantageous.
• Experience in data centres, semiconductor facilities, industrial projects, commercial developments, or other large-scale construction projects would be advantageous.
• Experience supporting either CSA or MEP packages within construction projects.
