Job summary

Turner & Townsend in Malaysia seeks an Assistant Cost Manager for Data Centre Projects to support cost management services in fast-paced environments. You will assist with cost planning, tender support, contract administration, and reporting under supervision.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2–5 years of experience, with a preference for exposure to MEP-intensive or data centre projects. Proficiency in CostX and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction, Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years of cost management, QS, construction experience.
• Exposure to MEPr-intensive, industrial, or data centre projects preferred.
• Good understanding of estimating, tendering, cost plans and reporting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills across stakeholders.
• Proficiency in CostX or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cost estimates, cost plans and budgets for data centre projects.
• Support quantity take-offs and rate analysis for packages.
• Help prepare tender docs, gather quotations and support analyses.
• Assist in compiling contract documents and procurement activities.
• Help track project costs, monitor variations and change control.
• Support preparation of monthly cost reports for clients.
• Collect and verify data for progress valuations and payment certifications.

Job Description

Role Summary

As an Assistant Cost Manager for Data Centre Projects, you will support the delivery of cost management services across fast‑paced, service‑intensive environments. Working under the guidance of a Cost Manager or Senior Cost Manager, you will assist with cost planning, tender support, contract administration, and reporting activities.

• Assist in preparing cost estimates, cost plans, and budgets for data centre projects.
• Support quantity take‑offs and rate analysis for MEP or CSA packages depending on background.
• Help prepare tender documentation, gather quotations, and support tender analyses and evaluations.
• Assist in compiling contract documents and supporting procurement activities.
• Help track project costs, monitor variations, and assist in change control procedures.
• Support preparation of monthly cost reports and updates for clients.
• Collect and verify data required for progress valuations and payment certifications.
• Coordinate with contractors and consultants to verify work progress and financial claims.

Governance & Coordination

• Maintain organised documentation, cost records, and audit‑ready files throughout the project.
• Assist in value engineering discussions and cost‑saving reviews.
• Support the project team by providing timely inputs during meetings, workshops, and client discussions.
• Ensure key information and learning from each project is uploaded into internal knowledge platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2-5 yearsof experience in cost management, quantity surveying, construction, or related fields.
• Exposure toMEP‑intensive, industrial, or data centre projectsis preferred but not mandatory.
• Good understanding of basic cost management concepts (estimating, tendering, cost plans, reporting).
• Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to support multiple stakeholders.
• Proficiency in cost software such as CostX or willingness to learn.
• Business‑level English and native proficiency in the local language.
