Job summary

HP in Malaysia is seeking a MEMS Process Engineer to design manufacturing solutions for MEMS products. You will create cost estimates, time standards, and procedures for new product introductions, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include designing processes for assemblies, developing layouts and tooling needs, and maintaining safety and maintenance plans for large equipment.

Qualifications

• This role requires a four-year or graduate degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Typically 4–7 years of work experience in engineering design and solutions, or 3–5 years with advanced degree.

Responsibilities

• Designs engineering solutions for manufacturing of parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies based on engineering principles and requirements.
• Develops cost estimates, capacity models, time standards, layouts, and tooling/process recommendations for new product introductions.
• Develops operating procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance plans for large scale manufacturing equipment.
• Supports issue diagnosis and continuous improvement with management and partners.
• Collaborates with internal and external manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective, high-quality solutions.
• Works on projects from new-product introduction through end-of-life lifecycle; provides guidance to junior staff.

The role collaborates with stakeholders for compliance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement. The role contributes to developing reliable and cost-effective manufacturing solutions for moderately complex products.

Responsibilities

• Designs engineering solutions, including methods, operation sequences, and processes for the manufacturing of parts, component sub- assemblies, and final assemblies, based on established engineering principles and general specifications and requirements.
• Develops and implements cost estimates, capacity models, time standards, production area layouts, and recommendations for tooling and process requirements for new product introductions.
• Develops operating procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance plans for large scale manufacturing equipment.
• Assists with issue diagnosis and problem-solving, while aiming for continuous improvement.
• Collaborates and communicates with management, internal, and outsourced manufacturing and development partners regarding process and standards compliance, recording and reporting issues, and recommendations for problem resolution for manufacture of existing products.
• Works as part of the project team of other manufacturing engineers and internal and outsourced manufacturing partners to develop and execute reliable, cost effective and high quality manufacturing solutions for moderately-complex products from new- product introduction through end of lifecycle.
• Represents the manufacturing engineering team for all phases of larger and more- complex development and manufacturing projects.
• Solves difficult and complex problems with fresh perspective, demonstrating good judgment in selecting creative solutions and managing projects independently.
• Delivers professionally written reports, and supports realization of operational and strategic plans.
• Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of manufacturing engineering design and development innovation and excellence.

Education & Experience Recommended

• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.
