Job summary

A medical services company is seeking a Standby Medic to support medical operations. You will assist in ensuring patient safety, monitoring, and continuity of care during transport, and be prepared to take over medic duties when instructed by the operations department.

Responsibilities include conducting UDAT, health screening, assisting with medication delivery, equipment checks, and supporting cross-functional tasks per SOPs and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Medical Assistant or Diploma in Nursing with offshore experience.
• Registered as Medical Assistant with the Board of Medical Assistants, MOH Malaysia, or Registered Nurse with Nursing Board, MOH Malaysia.
• Minimum five years post-graduation experience.

• Take over medic duties when instructed by the operation department.
• Conduct urine drug & alcohol tests for client and crew as assigned.
• Perform health screening and basic medical assessments for client/crew.
• Assist in preparation, packing, and delivery of medications ordered by clients.
• Inspect Responder Bag readiness and expiry dates of medications/equipment.
• Conduct ambulance equipment checklist and ensure readiness.
• Support operations in accordance with SOPs and client requirements.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties or cross-functional support as assigned by Management.

Key responsibilities

• As a support Medic during medical operations
• Ensure patient/client safety, monitoring, and continuity of care during transport or movement
• Take over medic duties when instructed or in the absence of the Primary Medic
• Conduct UDAT (Urine Drug & Alcohol Test) for client and crew as assigned
• Perform health screening and basic medical assessments for client/crew
• Assist in preparation, packing, and delivery of medications ordered by clients
• Inspect and ensure Responder Bag readiness, including checking medication and equipment expiry dates
• Conduct ambulance equipment checklist, ensuring medical equipment and supplies are within validity and operational readiness
• Support operational and medical activities in accordance with company's SOPs and client requirements
• Perform other ad-hoc duties or cross-functional support as assigned by Management or Operations

Requirements

• Diploma in Medical Assistant OR Diploma in Nursing with offshore experience
• Registered as a Medical Assistant with the Board of Medical Assistants, Ministry of Health, Malaysia or registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Board, Ministry of Health Malaysia
• Minimum five (5) years working experience post graduation
• Last three (3) years working experience with minimum two (2) years' experience in an emergency unit, trauma unit, or similar settings OR minimum two (2) years of working experience as an offshore medic
• Able to converse, read and write in Malay and English
• Valid Approved Medical Examiner (AME)
• Valid Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
• Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Valid Trauma Life Support (TLS) or equivalent
• Valid certification in Basic Training in Combine Sea Survival & Offshore Safety Procedures, Helicopter Underwater Escape (TBOSIET/HUET) as per company's requirement
• Valid Assistant Medical Review Officer (AMRO)
