Job summary

Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd is seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician in Malaysia to troubleshoot, repair, commission and load test SDI-supported engines and generator sets following company procedures and safety guidelines.

You will conduct diagnostic assessments, select parts and tools, and document service activities accurately. Work spans workshops and customer sites with emphasis on quality, safety and SQM standards.

Qualifications

• SPM, Certificate or Diploma in Engineering with 2–4 years’ experience.
• Basic knowledge of engine and generator troubleshooting, maintenance and repair.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, commission, and load test engines and generators.
• Diagnose components, systems, and assemblies to identify faults.
• Perform maintenance using hand, power, and electronic tools.
• Assess service requirements and select parts, tools, and materials.
• Communicate with Senior Technicians on equipment condition and repair needs.
• Complete service documentation including timecards and reports.
• Load/unload engines and generator sets per SQM and safety rules.
• Prepare engines for delivery to ensure readiness and compliance.
• Stay updated with tools, technologies, and best practices.
• Perform service work at workshops and customer sites.

• Perform troubleshooting, repair, commissioning, and load testing of SDI-supported engines and generator sets in accordance with approved company procedures, safety standards, divisional SQM requirements, and cleanliness guidelines
• Conduct diagnostic assessments and analysis of engine and generator set components, systems, and assemblies to accurately identify faults and determine corrective actions
• Execute hands-on maintenance and repair activities using appropriate hand tools, power tools, air tools, electronic controls, and related equipment
• Assess assigned service job requirements and exercise sound technical judgment in identifying and selecting necessary parts, tools, and materials required for job completion
• Communicate effectively with Senior Technicians and Service Seniors regarding equipment condition, maintenance findings, technical issues, and repair requirements
• Complete all required service documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including but not limited to timecards, SIMS reports, parts returns, and other relevant service reports
• Load and unload engines, generator sets, and related equipment from transport carriers in full compliance with SQM, safety, and quality requirements
• Prepare, inspect, and operate engines and generator sets prior to delivery to ensure operational readiness and compliance with approved specifications
• Maintain awareness of and remain up to date with developments in tools, technologies, systems, and best practices relevant to engine and generator set service operations
• Perform service work at workshops, customer sites, and other assigned locations in accordance with operational requirements

Job Requirement

• SPM, Certificate or Diploma in Engineering or related with 2 to 4 years of experience in relevant field
• Basic knowledge of engine and generator troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair would be an added advantage
• Able to work with minimum supervision
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills with positive attitude
