Job summary

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in mechanical/technical field.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and defects using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge.
• Repair, reassemble, and service machinery components including engines, hydraulic systems and transmissions.
• Replace worn parts with new components and ensure proper installation and alignment.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs and records of all work on equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify root causes to prevent future breakdowns.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations when working with machinery and hazardous materials.
• Collaborate with other teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency.
• Perform preventative maintenance schedules to extend equipment lifespan.
• Assist in training junior maintenance staff when required.
• Willing to be stationed outstation when required.

About the role

Masih Jaya Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanic to join our Workshop operations in Lahad Datu, Sabah. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing our machinery and equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, contributing directly to the productivity and safety of our operations. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern machinery in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery and equipment to ensure they operate safely and efficiently

What we're looking for

• A recognised mechanical or technical qualification, such as a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or equivalent trade certification
• Proven experience working as a Mechanic in a manufacturing, transport, or logistics environment
• Strong knowledge of machinery maintenance, repair techniques, and mechanical systems
• Proficiency in using mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and testing instruments
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards
• Physical fitness and ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions
• Good communication skills and the ability to document work accurately
• Familiarity with hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, or electrical machinery is advantageous
• Valid Manual driving licence would be beneficial for this role
