Job summary

Henkel is seeking a Material Planner to ensure material availability for Master Production Scheduling while maintaining optimal inventory. You will run MRP, review alerts, and create purchase requisitions to avoid shortages and align with supplier lead times.

Collaborate with internal interfaces, manage exceptions, and support regional resilience initiatives. A Bachelor degree or commercial apprenticeship is required with 2–5 years in planning roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or Commercial apprenticeship is the minimum education.
  • 2–5 years of experience in Material Planning or Supply Chain Planning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan material availability to support Master Production Schedule while maintaining optimal inventory.
  • Run MRP, review alerts, and create purchase requisitions.
  • Review PRs against supplier lead times and transport constraints.
  • Communicate MRP data to suppliers and address shortages with solutions.
  • Escalate issues to the next supervisor level and inform Production Planners of material unavailability.
  • Support regional supplier performance monitoring and strategic procurement projects.

About this Position

Accountable for Material Planning process – for a dedicated set of suppliers/products – that determines net requirements for the full horizon. Trigger the timely delivery of externally purchased raw and packaging materials to the manufacturing sites.

What You'll Do

Material Planning process:

  • Ensure material availability to support the Master Production Schedule while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Validate planning parameters (MOQ, lead times, sources of supply, sourcing ratios) and propose adjustments to Network Specialist (data stewardship).
  • Run Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), review and resolve alerts, and create purchase requisitions (PR).
  • Review inventory projections vs targets (L16, L56, OSMI). Take appropriate actions i.e., expedite, delay or cancel requisitions.
  • Review PRs to ensure alignment with supplier lead times, capabilities, and transportation constraints (data stewardship).
  • Share MRP with suppliers (electronically or manually) and collect feedback. Assess the impact of any material shortages, identify possible solutions (options) and discuss with suppliers.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to respective next supervisor level.
  • Inform Production Planners about material unavailability.
  • Provide input to Regional Supply Resilience team for periodic supplier performance monitoring.
  • Plan material supply ramp‑up/down for product phase‑in/out to avoid material shortages for the ramp‑up and obsoletes after ramp‑down (last time buy).
  • Support strategic procurement projects (supplier footprint optimization, single vs dual sourcing).
Collaboration
  • Close collaboration with internal/external key interfaces, mainly via APS, judging and aligning priorities to meet customer expectations and needs vs. supply chain capabilities; monitor and ensure delivery of other functions commitments.
Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to reviewing existing operations in own area of work and generate new ideas to assist in identifying continuous improvements to enhance operational efficiencies or streamline workflows.
Performance Management
  • Prioritize own workflow and ensure work is completed to the required standards of productivity, quality and timeliness; use KPI’s, performance management systems and reports to improve personal performance.
Supporting Systems
  • Utilize APS, driving efficiencies and providing feedback to contribute to systems improvement (internal & external use).
Time Management & Activities Planning
  • Plan own activities according to demand to ensure business continuity, enhance efficiencies and improve service levels. Actively participate in team meetings to align priorities.
Compliance
  • Comply with Henkel Corporate Standards, Global SHE and Sustainability requirements.

  • Minimal education required for the position: Bachelor degree, Commercial apprenticeship.
  • Minimal work experience required in years: 2-5 years of experience in Material Planning and/or Supply Chain Planning.
