Job summary

Agilent Technologies, Inc. in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a Materials Engineer (electronics component) to source engineering materials for electronics components and OEMs.

You will evaluate alternate materials, improve supplier piece-parts quality, and provide technical support for NPI and Product Transfer. You will guide manufacturing on non-conforming materials, support inspection equipment training, and drive cost-saving material substitutions while ensuring supply assurance and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Engineering Sciences or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills and able to work with all levels.
• Flexible in switching roles, responsibility & new task when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support for NPI (New Product Introduction) & Product Transfer.
• Assists manufacturing in resolving material related issues, and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Provides technical support in specification interpretation, adequacy of existing documentation, disposition of non-conforming materials, and training on the usage of inspection measuring equipment.
• Identifies and plans for inspection and test requirements needed for adequate assessment of the quality of incoming piece-parts.
• Analyzes inspection, evaluation and test data; Feedback quality performance and follow-up on quality issues with suppliers.
• Active involvement in quality improvement program with suppliers; Leads in sourcing substitute/alternative materials to achieve cost savings.
• Assists manufacturing in evaluating material related issues to ensure correct disposition of non-conformance materials.
