Job summary

SYARIKAT THONG GUAN TRADING SDN. BHD. is seeking a Material Planner to manage material planning, purchasing requests, and inventory control to support production and sales orders.

The role requires coordination with production, purchasing, QA, and suppliers for timely material availability. Responsibilities include issuing PRs, monitoring on-hand stock, updating system parameters, and monthly stock counts. Strong communication and 2–3 years of related experience in a food-related field are

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in supply chain, business admin or related field.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in food industry or related fields.
• Fluent in English, Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin.
• Strong communication across teams and floor.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
• ERP system knowledge is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Issue PR to purchase raw and packing materials based on on-hand balance vs usage and safety stock.
• Monitor on-hand quantities to determine receiving dates and actions.
• Coordinate with production planner to meet material needs and expedite orders.
• Liaise with purchasers and suppliers for material purchase, logistics, and payments.
• Update safety levels, MOQ, and lead times in the system to avoid stockouts.
• Reduce inventory by category using usage trends and MOQ analysis.
• Monitor slow-moving materials and report actions to management.
• Coordinate with QA on new or updated materials to avoid wrong purchases.
• Quarterly updates under CUSTOM SCHEDULE B for custom submissions.
• Perform month-end stock counts.

Job description

This role is responsible for material planning to meet demand from production to fulfil sales orders, including issuing purchase requisitions, monitoring inventory levels, and coordinating with internal departments and suppliers to ensure timely material availability.

Key responsibilities

• Issue PR to purchase raw and packing material based on current on-hand balance vs average monthly usage and safety quantity
• Perform check and balance of on-hand quantity of material to purchase, to determine the receiving date
• Work together with production planner to place ad hoc PR or pull in orders to meet material needs and escalat eproduction for ad hoc orders
• Liaise with purchaser and supplier for material purchase, arrangement (logistic/self-pickup) and payment requests
• Monitor and update system on changes of raw and packaging material safety level based on average usage, safety quantity, MOQ and delivery lead time from vendor
• Reduce inventory level by material category through analysing the usage trend vs MOQ to avoid over purchase or excess stock
• Monitor the material slow moving report and update management for action to be taken
• Coordinate with QA personnel for new material or amended version of material to avoid wrong material purchase
• Quarterly update the part purchase under CUSTOM SCHEDULE B for custom submission
• Perform month end stock count

About you

• Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field
• Minimum 2–3 years of relevant working experience in food industry or relevant industries
• Required language: English, Bahasa Melayu and Mndarin
• Good communication skills to deal with people across the floor
• Good analytic and problem solving skills
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, MS Excel, PowerPoint
• Knowledge in ERP system is an added advantage
