Job summary

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd is hiring a qualified Pilot to oversee vessel movements within PTP Port Limits and respond to marine emergencies.

The role requires Diploma in Nautical Studies and COC Class 3, with at least 1 year as Watch Keeping Officer on Foreign Going vessels; strong knowledge of local/international rules is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Nautical Studies is a must.
• COC Class 3 certification required.
• At least 1 year as Watch Keeping Officer on a Foreign Going vessel.
• Solid knowledge of ship handling and stability.

Responsibilities

• Advise and coordinate with Port Control to ensure safe operations.
• Ensure navigational safety of arriving/departing vessels, berthing, and mooring.
• Follow directions from the Senior Pilot on duty for safe pilotage operations.
• Monitor tugboats, pilot boats, mooring services and crews for safety and efficiency.
• Maintain communications equipment and report issues with navigation aids or pollution.
• Submit marine data promptly for billing and input purposes.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

1. Pilot vessels within PTP Port Limits.
2. Respond to any marine emergencies.
3. Ensure pilotage service meets customer requirement.
4. Pilotage compliance with local and international regulations

JOB DESCRIPTION:

1. Advise and coordinate with Port Control staff for duties related to operation matters to ensure safe and efficient operations.
2. Responsible for the navigational safety of vessels arriving and departing, berthing, un-berthing, mooring, unmooring and anchoring to ensure safe and efficient marine services.
3. Seek advice and heed the instructions given by the Senior Pilot on duty, to ensure safe and efficient pilotage operations.
4. Monitor and supervise the efficiency of the tugboats, pilot boats, mooring services and their personnel, to ensure safe and efficient marine operations.
5. Ensure all communications equipment are in good working condition, and to report any irregularities with regards to navigation aids, marine pollution, accident and any other threats to the Senior Pilots and Port Control staff.
6. To submit the marine data on time to ensure the billing efficiency and for data input purposes.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Possess minimum qualification Diploma in Nautical Studies and COC Class 3.
2. Deck Officer with at least 1-year experience as Watch Keeping Officer (WKO) onboard Foreign Going vessel.
3. Knowledge and skillful in ship handling and ship stability.
4. Good knowledge in the environment of local water and rules.
5. Knowledge in Local and International Convention, rules, regulations, acts and laws related to marine.
6. Knowledge in all marine emergency procedures.
7. Fluent in communication - spoken and written Malay & English languages.
8. Able to work on shift.
