ICHOR Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Manufacturing Trainer to develop and sustain the skills of Direct Labor personnel, ensuring training, assessment, and qualification align with work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The role supports workforce readiness through on-the-job training, qualification, retraining, cross-training, and multi-skilling, addressing competency gaps to improve operational performance and product quality.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or equivalent in Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in conducting OJT, competency assessment, or technical training is preferred.
  • Experience in weldments and/or machining processes is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structured, hands-on OJT for new hires and reassigned DL employees.
  • Demonstrate and guide correct process sequence, equipment use, quality checks, and safety practices.
  • Monitor trainee progress until they can perform processes safely, with required quality and cycle-time.
  • Coordinate with Supervisors to provide feedback on trainee readiness and competency verification.

Job description

The Manufacturing Trainer is responsible for developing and sustaining the skills and competency of Direct Labor (DL) personnel to ensures they are trained, assessed, qualified, and capable of performing manufacturing processes in accordance with approved work instructions, quality standards, customer requirements, applicable safety and workmanship standards.

The role supports the workforce readiness through on-the-job training (OJT), qualification, retraining, cross-training, and multi-skilling, while identifying and addressing competency gaps to improve operational performance, product quality, workforce flexibility, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
Training Needs and Readiness

Work with Production Supervisors to identify competency gaps arising from new hires, job assignments, process or equipment changes, transfers, quality incident, audit findings, workmanship standard, and customer requirements.

Review the assigned job requirements and current work instructions, assess each Direct Labor (DL) employee’s baseline skills, and define the required OJT, retraining, cross-training, or qualification plan.

Ensure that approved training materials, work instructions, assessment, acceptance criteria, relevant safety and workmanship standards are current before training begins.

On-the-Job Training and Safe Work Practices

Deliver structured, hands-on OJT for new hires and reassigned DL employees.

Demonstrate and provide guidance of correct process sequence, equipment and tool use, quality checks, workmanship, PPE, hazard controls, and escalation procedures.

Monitor practice until the trainee can perform the assigned process or operation safely, consistently, and to the required quality and cycle-time expectations.

Coordinate workplace exposure with the Supervisor and Line Leader and provide clear feedback on trainee progress and readiness.

Conduct Individual Skill Assessments (ISA) through direct observation, questioning, and practical demonstration against assessment criteria.

Routines observation in the production floor to identify unsafe practices, procedural deviations, skills gaps, or skill-related causes of defects, rework, downtime, and productivity loss.

Reassess affected personnel and confirm competency before they resume independent work after quality incident, extended absence, failed assessment, or significant process change.

Refresher Training & Requalification

Conduct refresher and requalification based on ISA/BSA result, certification status, competency gaps, or identified performance needs

Re-assess personnel following fail assessment, extended absence, incidents, or other condition requiring competency verification before resuming independent work.

Cross-Training and Workforce Flexibility

Implement cross-training and multi-skilling with production to support manpower coverage, job rotation, and operational continuity.

Coordinate with relevant SMEs and function to ensure training content, practical readiness, and qualification requirements are established before personnel are assign to additional process or operation.

Training Records, Compliance, and Reporting

Maintain accurate, complete, and traceable training, assessment, qualification record in accordance with company procedure, customer requirements, and ISO 9001:20015 standards.

Ensure training record are current and readily available for management review and audit purpose

Continuous Improvement and Production Support

Participate in practical improvement activities such as 5S, Kaizen, Lean, standard-work review, and problem solving where operator capability affects safety, quality, delivery, cost, or productivity.

Recommend improvements to training methods, work instructions, assessment criteria, and qualification controls based on shop-floor feedback and performance data.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education

Diploma or equivalent qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical, or related discipline.

Relevant technical certification or vocational qualification may be considered based on manufacturing experience.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in production, technical, or process environment.

Experience in conducting OJT, competency assessment, or technical training is preferred.

Experience in weldments and/or machining processes is an added advantage
