Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a manufacturing technician to support fiber splicing, optical/electromechanical assembly, and laser alignment.

You will perform measurements, assemble sub-assemblies, solder, and test products, ensuring quality and adherence to production plans. The role requires a Diploma in Engineering with 2+ years in manufacturing, ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings, and willingness to work overtime during high production periods.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent with 2+ years in manufacturing.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with troubleshooting automation machines is a plus.
• Experience with optical/laser products is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Perform wide variety of optical, electronic or electro-mechanical measurements.
• Carry out product assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies.
• Follow methods and sequence for wiring, cleaning, installation, and hand soldering.
• Perform mechanical and optical alignment for laser tuning.
• Conduct functional, leakage and laser performance testing and electrical testing/troubleshooting.
• Suggest process improvement plans.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Perform a wide variety of optical, electronic or electro-mechanical, mechanical measurement

product assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies.

• Determines and or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component cleaning & installation, hand soldering, and fitting on assembly units.
• Perform mechanical and optical alignment for laser tuning.
• Conduct product performance testing such as functional, leakage, laser performance, and other related testing processes.
• Conduct electrical testing/troubleshooting.
• Recommend process improvement plan

Education And Work Experience

• Possess at least Diploma in Engineering or its equivalents with 2 years or more relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Possess experience in troubleshooting automation machines and able to read electrical drawings/schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical orders.
• Experience working on a microscope, fiber splicing, optical and laser related products is an added advantage
• Follow, comply and ensure good housekeeping and safety in the factory
• Open to work beyond normal working hours when production volume is high
