Job summary

Samtec Asia Pacific (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Quality/Process Engineer to drive robust quality systems and continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

You will apply LEAN, Six Sigma, and quality tools (DOE, PFMEA, SPC) to analyze data, drive root-cause investigations, and develop work instructions and SOPs. Candidate should communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers, manage multiple projects, and contribute to cost reduction and product reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Process Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Operations Management.
• Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 9100, or IATF 16949 quality systems.
• Familiar with LEAN & 5S manufacturing techniques.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities.
• Experience with ISO/TS or automotive quality systems is highly desired.

• Guide Manufacturing Quality Support staff in the area.

• Investigate quality problems using root-cause methods and corrective actions.
• Create and maintain WIs, SOPs, training docs, workmanship standards.
• Use quality tools like DOE, PFMEA, SPC to prevent recurrence.
• Identify and coordinate containment of nonconforming materials.
• Audit processes for compliance and address non-conforming results.

Job description

1. Initiate projects related to product, process, quality systems, or yield improvement based on internal and external quality indicators.

2. Develop and implement systems that improve quality and ensure sustainable results, therefore driving continuous improvement.

3. Use advanced measurement tools, techniques, and test equipment and be able to understand and analyze results.

4. Create and review qualification plans for inner company product transfers (Process Review, Test Plan Development, PCN, etc.)

5. Serve as a training resource for above mentioned measurement and test equipment, ensuring respective personnel understand their operation.

6. Provide guidance and training to Manufacturing Quality Support personnel in the respective area.

7. Monitor and report daily/weekly/monthly KPI’s via meetings, email, and End of Month reports.

8. Analyze data required to understand a problem and develop solutions. This includes, but is not limited to: quality data, manufacturing process data, dimensional data, engineering data, training records, audit results, etc.

9. Investigate and appropriately document quality problems using root cause analysis methods and identify robust corrective actions.

10. Create and maintain all relevant Work Instructions, SOP’s, Training Documents, and Workmanship Standards

11. Use quality tools such as failure analysis, root cause analysis, DOE, PFMEA, SPC, and others, to identify the source of a problem, correct the problem, and prevent future occurrences on same or similar products.

12. Identify and coordinate containment of any nonconforming materials

13. Audit manufacturing processes for compliance to quality, manufacturing, and engineering standards. Work with the relevant parties to develop plans to address non-conforming audit results.

Required Experience:

• 5+ Years’ experience in Process Engineering, Quality Assurance Engineer, or Operations Management is required.
• Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 9100, or IATF 16949 Quality systems is ideal.
• Must be familiar with Manufacturing techniques such as LEAN & 5S
• Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously as priorities can change very quickly.
• Connector experience is desired but not required.
• Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
• Must be able to sit for more than 90 consecutive minutes.
• Experience with ISO/TS or Automotive Quality systems highly desired.
• Six Sigma or Problem-Solving background desired.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, other) preferred. If no experience, degree is required.
• Six Sigma background is desired (Green Belt, Yellow Belt, Black Belt).
