Job summary

Intel in Malaysia's Penang site seeks a Manufacturing Engineering Equipment Manager to lead a team of engineers and technicians responsible for overseeing equipment maintenance, repair, and ramp readiness across assembly lines.

You will drive safety, quality, and uptime targets, develop training plans, manage shifts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; 3+ years in manufacturing ops or equipment management.
• Master's degree with 2+ years in the field is acceptable.
• At least 3 years of equipment maintenance/repairing experience.
• Proficiency in equipment monitoring, scheduling and maintenance practices.
• Knowledge of GMP and operational safety standards.
• Ability to develop training plans and manage certifications.

Responsibilities

• Repair and sustain machines as an equipment engineer.
• Own, sustain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize assembly equipment for uptime and quality.
• Drive reliability and process improvements using RCA, preventive maintenance, SPC, FMEA.
• Lead and coach technicians responsible for manufacturing ops and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure production schedules meet safety and quality standards.
• Oversee equipment performance and repair to sustain efficiency.
• Establish training and certification plans for ramp requirements.
• Supervise shifts, workstation assignments, and PTO management.
• Resolve ops, safety, and security issues within assigned toolsets.
• Develop tactical plans to streamline workflows and improve cross-group coordination.
• Collaborate with engineering to address health and operational challenges.
• Drive team results through goal setting and leadership development.

The Role and Impact

As a Manufacturing Engineering Equipment Manager, you will lead a team of engineer/technicians responsible for overseeing operations, equipment maintenance, and repair within Intel's manufacturing facilities. You also need to equip the skills to hand on by your own for machine repairing as equipment engineer. You'll play a pivotal role in driving safety, quality, and efficiency across production, ensuring the team meets critical goals and delivers results. Your contributions will directly impact factory performance and operational success, enabling Intel to maintain its leadership in innovative manufacturing excellence.

This position is part of Intel's Manufacturing and Operations division, engineering department which focuses on delivering world-class manufacturing capabilities to support Intel's cutting-edge technology. The team is essential to Intel's growth, ensuring quality, efficiency, and scalability in production processes while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Able to repair and sustain machine as an equipment engineer
• Own, sustain, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize Assembly manufacturing equipment to achieve equipment uptime, yield, quality, and productivity targets while supporting production ramps and tool qualifications.
• Drive equipment reliability and process improvements through root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, failure analysis, SPC, FMEA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead/coach and manage a team of technicians responsible for manufacturing operations, equipment maintenance, and repair.
• Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining stringent safety and quality standards.
• Oversee equipment performance, troubleshooting, and repair to sustain operational efficiency.
• Establish and implement training and certification plans to equip the team with the necessary skills for production ramp requirements.
• Supervise shift schedules, including workstation assignments, rotations, and PTO management, to ensure optimal staffing coverage.
• Act as the first responder to resolve operational, safety, and security issues within assigned toolsets or areas.
• Develop and execute tactical plans to streamline workflows and improve coordination between groups and divisions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to address factory health challenges and operational issues.
• Drive team results through effective goal setting, performance management, and leadership development.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing operations or equipment management OR Master's degree in a relevant field with 2+ years of experience
• Minimum 3 years of equipment maintenance/repairing experience.
• Proficiency in equipment monitoring, scheduling, and maintenance practices.
• Experience in manufacturing quality assurance processes and practices.
• Knowledge of good manufacturing practices and operational safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to develop training plans and manage team certifications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing diverse teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with excursion management and process optimization strategies.
• Proven ability to inspire and drive results through effective leadership and goal-setting.
