Job summary

Startek Malaysia is seeking a Mandarin-speaking Team Leader to join our accounting team, leading AP & AR functions at our Ara Damansara office in Selangor. This full-time role suits someone with finance and accounting passion and team management experience.

You will oversee AP/AR, manage a team of ~25 staff, ensure timely processing, and support audits and management reporting while maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance.
• 3-4 years experience in full sets of accounts with AP/AR.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Fluent in Mandarin and English (written and spoken).
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies.
• Lead, supervise, and develop a team of approximately 25 finance staff members across AP and AR operations.
• Monitor daily accounting activities, including invoice processing, vendor payments, collections, customer reconciliations, and cash application.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes related to AP and AR activities.
• Review and validate accounting entries to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
• Resolve escalated issues related to the client, vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
• Support audit activities by preparing required schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and management presentations.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, statutory requirements, and financial regulations.
• Train, coach, and mentor team members to enhance their technical knowledge and professional development.
