Job summary

Prudential Malaysia seeks an experienced finance professional to manage a broad range of accounting functions including staff cost accounting, fixed assets, and local/group reporting. The role ensures timely transactions, month-end closes, and regulatory filings while supporting audits and process improvements.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of relevant experience, with Big 4 or financial services exposure preferred and ACCA/CPA/CA towards designation advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAEW, etc.) or pursuing designation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on accounting for staff related costs (salary, bonus, claims).
  • Timely accounting of fixed assets and leases with timely schedules.
  • Prepare month end accrual journals and GL reconciliations and follow up on long balances.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis to support financial performance insights.
  • Deliver monthly financial close, reporting and group statutory/regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate audits for multiple countries (Singapore, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, UK, US).
  • Produce analytics, predictive scenarios and comments to improve data quality.

This position manages a broad range of finance functions, including general accounting, staff cost accounting, fixed asset and lease management, local reporting and group reporting following and complying to the applicable internal company policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures, as well as regulatory and Group reporting requirements. Responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions, preparing month-end schedules and reconciliations, and delivering regulatory and tax filings. This position also supports audits, collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, and contributes to special projects and continuous process improvements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Hands‑on accounting for staff related costs (e.g. salary, bonus, share awards and employee claims) and liaising with Human Resources on queries pertaining to staff related costs.
  • Timely and accurate accounting of fixed assets and leases. Ensure that supporting schedules are submitted within the communicated timelines, and stock take duly signed off by procuring departments.
  • Prepare and/or review month end accrual journals as well as GL reconciliations and follows up with relevant departments on long outstanding balances
  • Responsible for the monthly variance analysis to provide greater visibility into financial performance trends.
  • Deliver monthly financial close and reporting as well as Group reporting, statutory and regulatory reporting (including indirect tax, corporate tax and various local regulatory reporting).
  • Responsible for audit for the various countries (e.g. Singapore, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, UK and US)
  • Prepare analytics, predictive scenarios and commentaries for financials in a timely manner, enhance Finance data quality and accuracy.
  • Support the standard operating procedures documentation as and when required.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing, standardise best practices, and mentor the team to support professional growth and technical accounting proficiency.
  • Perform any ad hoc and administrative tasks as and when required by the Management.
Minimum Job Requirement
Qualification:
  • Bachelor or Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAEW, etc.) or working towards designation will be an added advantage.
Relevant Experience:
  • At least 7 years of relevant working experience, preferably with supervisory, review, or team lead responsibilities.
  • Prior experience from Big 4 audit firm and /or financial services industry especially Fund Management would be preferred.

  • Able to multi-task and work under tight timelines.
  • Meticulous, hands‑on attitude, self‑motivated, independent, mature and confident individual with high degree of initiatives and resourcefulness.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong team player who is willing to support team members beyond own scopes of work.
Special Business Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent MS Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Coupa and/or OneStream will be an added advantage.
